Glass lid shattered - Tefal T-fal 12 Inch Glass Lid Genuine Replacement Cover

Kenmore elite 700 series triple action technology glass top load 5.3 cu ft.washer glass lid is shattered..can I replace the glass only or do I have to replace the whole lid top?

Go to your local Goodwill or thrift store. They always have them.

No not if it has never had one fitted by the manufacturer as it wont have a safety device fitted to close the gas supply in the advent that the lid is closed while a burner is still a light which would shatter the safety glass and cause injury to the user. Some glass lidded cookers where imported to England when i was an apprentice gas engineer and no safety device fitted and the lids exploded and where soon made illegal.

That will be a tough one. Try checking local Goodwills or on craigslist.

No liquid added? That me be the problem.

energy from tightening the screw on the plastic cover of the glass lid, resulted in a series of molecular transitions, that reacted with the metal around the glass to produce the shattering of the lid. amazingly producing a new source of energy that should be investigated. the company should recall all glass lids asap, and exchange them with some inert cover material. someone may be seriously injured.

check the thrift store (goodwill, Etc). Measure the diameter that the lid should be to fit the pot and perhaps a glass lid from another appliance will work. Or, even a metal pot or pan lid (better than nothing)
