Pc laptop i have a dell laptop and windows vista basic and i just bought the first video game for windows live shadow run and i have an x box live user name and account and it wont let me down load the update for the game and i already tried turning the fire wall off to access the down load but that did not work and it also says while trying to down load the update something about errors on programs found what else should i try

The free upgrade is sent out by the laptops manf. directly to you as long as you bought the laptop in the past 4 months. It is regardless of the current version of Windows Vista that you are running. According to an article found here

"Acer says "shipments will begin in increments. All orders will be handled on a first-in, first-out basis." So if you bought a computer last week, you could be at the end of a long line."

Best you can do at the moment is just wait, your not going to be able to do much till Acer ships out that upgrade. Even if you did install Windows Vista Premium, you would be stuck till you got the Windows 7 from the manf.

Try starting explorer by going to file\new task (run..) and typing explorer.

If it doesnt work, just type msconfig on the same box and go to startup tab, leaving everything unmarked, just reboot your pc and problem should be solved
