When i turn the laptop on, the screen just goes black/greyish and does nothing.... It makes sounds but nothing on the screen, its just blank straight away.
Conect it to a extra moniter and wait about 10 mins and then press fn+f5
Im afraid that your screen is broken, but try to move the screen foward and backward littlebit, my friend also have the same problems and only by contact local support using his warranty the problems fix, you may open your laptop to see if something wrong with the wire but i think its not practically good.
ok lets try this, when you turn on the laptop press f2, if a new screen appear(in blue/black) then no problems with your hardware.
or try to press f8, if there are new screen appear select safe mood,
if it is cause by hard disk, the chance of getting black screen when turn on is low, beside you still can see the normal Acer startup screen.
If it just happened today, let it rest about one or teo days but that just depend on luck=), so far from my experience when u turn on laptop if the normal Acer white screen didn't appear, something wrong with your laptop screen, anyway i will try to search other resource that relate to your problems and inform u if i have any helpfull info).
(tips: Virus or running heavy/unstable program my cause your cmputer become so hot and lead to hardware failure)

I'd like to think that to, but it happened when i opened up a program and the screen went blank, i then powered off by pressing down power and then the screen problem... maybe it is broken?
Oh and whenever you press a key it makes that annoying unresponsive sound... maybe its the hard drive?
Thanks, it must be the screen then cause it beeps when i press those buttons... or hardware failure.... im pretty sure it wasnt overheating cause my laptop had only been running for about 20 mins, thanks again
Ok I now think i know the problem, the display hardware or drive isn't working properly, keeps on crashing..... so screen goes blank
Laptop screen is black and will not turn on. I have charged it in various outlets but the screen remains black. It wasmaking a beeping sound but it went away. Screen remains black, charging now.
