My Windows XP is no longer recognizing my cruzer 8gb

When I first used it the thing worked fine. I transfered data from my PC to my Laptop which is Window's Vista. Now the XP is no longer recognizing it.

With the flash drive plugged into your computer, go to start>settings>control panel>administrative tools>computer management>disk management
Your flash drive should be there. Right click it and select "change drive letter and paths." Click on "change." Change the drive letter.
Just follow the directions to finish.

Sometimes, if you turn the computer on, insert the flash drive, and reboot, the drive will show up, it is detected on start along with your other drives.

(I recommend starting at the end of the alphabet (Z) and work backwards when selecting the drive letters for flash drives, that way, in the future it will be easier to recognize them.)

My flash dive is not work pc is not recognize it

Windows XP, Vista , or Windows 7 should be able to automatically detect and install it. Try using it on another computer that has either Windows XP, Vista , or Windows 7 on it. If it doesn't automatically detect and install it on that one then the flashdrive is dead.

If you have an older operating system then go here to download the driver:

I have SanDisk Cruzer micro 8GB and being used for while. Recently I noticed divice cut-off comunication during reading or saving from/to this cruzer. I tested in 2 pc with different operation system...

Most likey yes. If you have been using the thumb drive frequesntly and with large volumes of data or as a live boot USB then yes. As these devices are used they can wear out just like a hard drive. These devices though are not built to handle it as well as a hard drive. You could say they are a lot like VHS and cassette tapes.

I have a 8gb Cruzer Flash drive, when i conect it on my pc, the orange light apprears but the comptuer doesn't recognize it. i went to the computer device manager but no new drive neigther plugged in...

I have 4 just like it and I've never had this kind of problem (Windows XP SP3). Have you checked the USB port(s) in Device Manager to insure there's not a problem there? Try rebooting the computer with the drive plugged in. You can recover the data on it using a program like BadCopy Pro (or similiar) providing you don't do anything to overwrite or erase the files on it first.

Is this compatable w/windows 7?

The Short Answer to this is Yes. I have one and it works perfectly fine in windows 7. The only thing that does not work is that actual cruzer software itself. By this i mean that little window that comes up on xp comptuers. However you can still access it under my computer and you can still stop the device on in the tray icons. I hope this helps
Thanks
Steven.

My computer won't recognize my cruzer micro 8gb stick. I don't want to reformat, because I have at least 1000 pictures, plus Quickbooks, Legacy and other data on it. Anyone have any ideas?

some older pcs wont recognise sticks and sd cards larger than 4gb. it will probabaly be down to the version and service pack of windows you are using.

This is Romeet, id like to help you with the problem. Unfortunately it seems a lot of things that you love :) wont work right? well, Let me know if you are running windows xp with what service pack? service pack 1 or service pack 2? to do this, right click the icon " My Computer " and select properties,a system properties dialog will open, on the top right you should be able to see:

System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional / Home ( Depends what you have )
Version ( 2002 )
Service Pack X ( X could be 1 or 2 )check this and let me know
