Go into MY computer and make sure your dvd/cdrw is being shown in there. IF its in there then try to see if it will recognize anything you put in there. Try different things such as a music cd and then a dvd movie. If it recognizes one but not the other then your drive is bad. If your computer is not seeing the drive at all then it could be a virus or your cables need to be reconned to the drive. No driver is needed, just software to burn stuff and a dvd player to play dvd's.

Dear Sirs, I have a Smart& Friendly "CD

make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps

My DVD/CD-ROM drives stop working. On the device manager itb says, Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Hi friend,
Firstly you update the DVD/CD-ROM drives form device manager and restart the system,if nothing happning in that condition you need to reinstall the DVD/CD-ROM drives through CD or net.

Thanks,

Desktop DVD fails to recognize "commercial" DVDs

Hello my friend,i can think only 2 things. The first thing is the region code.So right-click My Computer then select Properties, select the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button and go to DVD/CD-ROM drives, double click to open the tree. Then choose your dvd burner and double click or right click and properties to open the dvd properties.Go to the dvd region code and select the code/country that the dvd supports and click OK.Also you can download a program called region free. The second thing is that your drive supports CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD-RAM so if the disc is something else then is not supported by your reader/burner.

Will first of all is it a dvd rom/ cd rom drive or just a dvd rom, because you cant use cds in dvd drives! Second of all, make sure your driver is fully updated, it might be missing something that it needs that will fix the problem after you update it!

Windows freezes when inserting a cd

I had this happen to me with corrupted CD's, or just old scratched ones. If it's not specific, but happens with every CD you put in, then try the following- right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager>right click on your burner drive>properties> You'll find a troubleshooting option there, and if you click on the driver tab you can also update the driver or roll back to a former driver. Let us know it it worked out(use the comment option), if not we'll try figuring something out ;] Good luck
