My Samsung front loader washer is throwing the nf code. I went through the steps and replaced the solenoid. It still isnt working. could there be a clog somewhere else in the washer?

If the machine is filling with water ok, then your water valve ("solenoid") is not the problem.
Perhaps the washer is not sensing the water level change - find the 9mm air hose attched to circular pressure (level) sensor, remove it and blow air down through it into the bowl to clear any blockage.

My WF306LAW-XAA Samsung washer will not stop filling with water and hence will not advance to wash cycle. Do you think it needs a new mixer valve?

No, you have a water level switch problem. Simple solution is to pull the hose from the water level switch and blow into the hose to clear out the debris. DO NOT BLOW INTO THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH!!! It will break!!! Replace the hose back onto the water level switch and it should work fine. Good luck
