No sound after a fuse outage

A fuse popped while the TV was on and after we switched the fuse back on there is no sound on the TV. Have tried the other inputs and same problem.

The picture and everything else work fine just no sound at all. Slient. No hissing, popping or fuzziness. I'm praying the speakers aren't blown

Could be a audio output circuit problem but if just using the speakers built into the set check in the set menu to make sure for whatever reason the speakers are now not switched to off.

With the correct cable or sat box and a surround sound system you might be able to get around this---just a thought.

No surround sound being used just the built in speakers. I checked the menu and even reset the audio settings. Do you know if there's a way to know if the speakers are blown?

SOURCE: Picture went out on p50hdm Vizio Plazma tv after loud POP

It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:

  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.

Screen is black

sounds like it was enough to pop something in the tv, smell the back of the tv smell if anything smells burnt or hot. unplug the tv and let stand for about a hour unplugged then trying it again but if it does smell chances are you will have to see if your still under warrenty and have the unit replaced.

After a power outage my Panasonic smart tv came on for 2 seconds but after that it turned off and it wont come on after 24hrs

The power outage probably popped an inside fuse or damaged some electronic components. If you are capable, unplug the tv and place it face down on a soft towel. Unscrew all the screws on the rear that hold the two halves together. Lift the back panel slowly making sure all is free. Look for the fuses and check if they are blown. If they are, replace them with the same rated fuses. This is the cheapest fix. If the fuses pop again after this, then something beyond the fuse was damaged. You will need a repair shop to troubleshoot it. Once fixed, plug the tv into a surge protector for future use. Hope this helps.

After a power outage, the tv wont turn back on. was hoping there is a fuse that may have blown.

Hi Michael,
Yes there is a fuse in your TV too and sometimes you do escape with a blown fuse after a power outage. Please open if you can the back cover of your TV, locate the fuse. If you do not see any damaged or blown parts, replace the fuse with the same rating. If the works, enjoy watching. If the fuse blows again, the power board needs to be repaired or replaced.
Good luck.

Had a power outage and tv was on when power came back on , heard a pop , now tv has no sound ?

If you have one of the newer flat screen TV sets; power the TV off and then unplug the set from the wall outlet for a couple of minutes and then plug the TV set back in and then power it back up. Lots of newer flat screens have a power supply system that will not reset properly after a voltage spike or a power outage that is a short duration. By unplugging from the wall outlet and letting the power supply drain all the way to a zero (0) setting it usually resets ok when you power it back up. good luck, Dennis

You may have to open it to see if the line fuse that the power cord goes to is good or bad.

After a power outage the TV will not turn back on. How do i go about troubleshooting this?

Sounds like you had a spike. I would check fuses first on the board. Then i would check Capacitors especially near power section of circuit board. Most Caps will pop leaking on the top. All Caps should look flat topped. MOST any visual blown caps will have a buldge top. remember to discharge the set. Voltages are very dangerous in sets

Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound

Possible problems: * The TV set may be unplugged. * A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off. * The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled. Solutions: * Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on. * Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp. * Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.
