Every once in a while when I turn on the TV I heard a popping sound. Picture/TV worked fine. During the last few weeks, I would hear a pop and then the picutre would go black and then come back after a few seconds. Last Saturday I heard a pop and then the picture went black. It never came back in. When using the remote, you can still see the volume control, menu settings, etc., but no picture. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound
* The TV set may be unplugged.
* A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off.
* The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled.
* Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on.
* Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp.
* Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.

we cannot get a picture or sound on several channels. Otherwise the TV works fine. Any solutions?
as you get p&s on several channels so your ser is ok the problem
1 loose contact near tuner or it is defective.
2 tuner signal line .
I think that the pop you heard was an electrolytic capacitor blowing its top on the picture frame board. If you are able to check this for yourself by looking on the board for the one/s with a bulging top or are a brownish/black colour like something has caught fire. And also in this situation smell can be of great help as it will smell burnt out but PLEASE before putting your nose or anything else in the tv take all necessary precautions against electric shock and discharge any electrolytic capacitors in the vicinity. If you are not able to do this yourself find a competant technician. Hope this helps.
#1 When I turn on the TV the power button comes on then blinks 6 times then goes off for a few seconds then repeats the cycle. I have sound over my surround system during this time but no picture.
#2 My sound would crackle and pop every once and a while until now it does nothing. I have to watch it with the surround sound on.
