I have an Apple Nano 2GB black classic (silver back and sides with black front and square edges). The screen just started partially blanking out - not black but no image through the lower 2/3rds of the screen - about a 1/4" swath.

Well if the screen is not cracked and there is no black on the screen when the ipod is off then the pixels in the screen died. Easily solved, buy a new screen on ebay, I had to replace my ipod nano screen(clasic) because it was cracked, so this should work for you.

It could still be that the screen simply partialy died out, if you can see something thats the onlything that could do that to a screen.

ITunes does not recognize my iPod Nano 8GB Silver. It recognizes my iPod 2GB. Why is this happening? I have a Dell XPS and I am using Microsoft Word 2010.

Just reset the 8GB nano by holding the center and menu buttons at the same time for about 6 seconds. It usually works for me with my iPod classic 120GB.

My apple ipod nano 8gb 3rd generation's screen went black

It probably hangs on you, right? I get that problem on my silver 3rd gen nano when i jog. What i do is press the menu button and the middle circle button at the same time, and it'll restart the whole thing. Make sure you unlock it (bottom next to charger port, make sure it's white, not red) first. You'll see the apple screen as it starts back up and it'll go to the main menu. I run a lot so maybe it got jarred or something on mine. I hope that's all it is, or it might be a static problem. That I'm not helpful with. :| Good luck.

OH and it won't delete your songs so no worries on that.

Nano goes blank

Reboot your Ipod by holding down on the center button while holding down on the menu button.

This should reboot your IPod.

If that doesn't work plug your Ipod into Itunes and restore your software back to factory settings. Make sure that battery if fully charged as well.

Video

Greetings,
There is no way to update your old Nano to play video. There is no video processing chip, and the screen is not of a high enough resolution. My second generation ipod with a black and white screen also shows the option for music videos, its just due to the iTunes software.

Apple Nano 2GB screen!!

If your iPod nano is not responding, try to manually reset it. The instructions are in the manual; but I have typed them below for your reference: Slide the Hold switch to HOLD and back again. Then press the Menu and Center buttons at the same time for about 6 Seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Hope this fixes your problem.
