Kitchen printer prints jibberish or not at all

Hi, I have two stations, one drive thru and one dine in. I don't know if it's a networking problem or what, but the kitchen printer has gone from bad to worse. It only occasionally prints the orders, sometimes the orders are partial, and sometimes it is just jibberish. Thanks

We recently upgraded our hardware after 7 yrs to newer computers running windows XP Proffesional. We have three stations. A bar printer attached to the bar terminal, and a kitchen printer with an IP address on the network. Bar and kitchen tickets keep jumping around to different printers. We go through the setup on each station and tell them where to send tickets, after a transaction or two they start again printing all over the place. I have thought about deleting the printers from each station and reinstalling, but I don't know if there is another fix. Thanks for pondering this!

It seems to me that your problem is in the fact that a printer is not working properly. The first thing to do when a printer begins to give you problems is to reinstall the drivers for that printer. That should fix the problem provided you know how to add a printer. Just add it like it is a new printer and delete the old printer from you list.

Restaurant Pro Express - Shared Printer - wierd scenario

Delete printer from PC it is not connected to(PC2). Make sure you can print a test page in windows from PC it is connected to(PC1). Then check on sharing. Make sure the share name is the same as what 3rd PC is looking for(PC3). Print to printer from PC3. On PC2, set up and install as a network printer. If all PCs can print to kitchen printer from windows, then you should not have to make any changes in RPE.
Also, if you cloned everything including the RPE folders, you may not be syncing properly. Check by changing the price of something and saving. It should change on the other stations also. Make this test from each station.

Printer is printing jibberish on not working on test prints

If you can print to it the network setup is ok. It sounds more like a print driver problem.

Okidata 320 turbo microline prints jibberish

sounds like a job was sent to the printer with the wrong driver. There is no way to purge it just load some paper and let it run until it stops. They make sure your emulation matches the driver youa are using. Example Epson 9pin compatiable or OKI ML320 Turbo-IBM drive you want the emulation set to Epson FX. Or if using the OKI ML320 Drive you want the emulation set to ML.
