My car is a 2006 KIA Sportage, Fan motor was making noise then stopped working, removed the fan and found acorns inside. Also, found that the two wires to the motor had melted together, the 40amp fuse blown, resistor/MOSFET was destroyed also. Checked resistance in both the red and yellow wires to the fan and the reading seems fine(.002 ohms). There are no lights on at the control now with of course no operation of the fan. Besides replacement of the resistor/MOSFET with replacement of the two fan wires and 40amp fuse is there anything else I should be concerned about replacement?

Rule of thumb...unless you get a better answer:  look for a couple of wires on a small plate that is in the airflow of the fan on the heater/ac unit.  The resistor pack is always air cooled by the fan.

SOURCE: 2001 Kia Sportage fuse 4 radiator fan?

Radiator fan fuse is fuse # 5 (40 amp/Green) located behind the interior fuse access panel on the left side of the instrument panel next to the steering column. Also, in the underhood Power distribution center, next to the air cleaner filter are two black fan relays: high speed (F) at the far left, second row down and a low speed, 1st one to the right on the bottom row.

SOURCE: Replaced blower motor in my 2001 kia sportage ex,

It could be the blower motor resistor, the high position feeds full 12 volt power directly to the blower motor. All lower settings route through the blower motor resistor. It is usually located under the passenger side dash, not far from the blower motor. Two screws secure it to the heater box.

Fan making clanking noise like it is hitting something the part seems to be located in the lower left front passenger side

sounds like blower motor fan for heat, the motor itself can be going bad or something is hitting fan blade inside heater box, I have seen all different things in heater boxes including acorns , leaves and general debris causing noises when fan for heater runs, you need to take it apart and check for anything that might be hitting fan if not motor is going bad and needs replacement, good luck.

Ac/heater fan making awful noise

the bearings in the blower motor could be bad. in which case you'll have to change the motor. or the fan has come loose from the shaft andmight be fixable. or something got inside and is rattling around. removal of the motor will be necessary in any cases. go to autozone.com to veiw repair guides for you car. register and enter your car. and select vehicle repair guides from the list on the left. then heating and cooling.
