You say the solution to fixing the TV guide problem on the LG tv is the digital main board. Do you mean to replace the board or is there some sort of reset?
I have the same tv. I have been corresponding with TVGuide about the problem. The problem is the TVGuide version in my tv does not use digital slicing. Originally, tvguide was being broadcasted on the analog channels. Now that the stations are going to all digital, TVguide is being broadcasted digitally over the air using a time slicing scheme. Right now there are no known fixes or updates from LG.I have the same tv. I have been corresponding with TVGuide about the problem. This may or may not be a main board issue. Please reply with answers to the following:
Are you using a cable box or satellite receiver? Is your provider broadcasting the guide information over both PBS and ABC (has to be both)? Can you use a set of rabbit ears (antenna) to pickup ABC and PBS locally (to see if the guide information can be pulled up over the air)?
Make sure to allow at least 24 hours for the guide information to be received.

I have the lg du-42py10x tv with a cable card slot. I have Time Warner cable in Cincinnati Ohio. I split their cable coming in and put one end on the cable input and one end on the antenna input on the tv. I now have TVGOS with my cable card. By putting one end of the cable on the antenna RF input, I received the CBS station in analog. That is what you need to get TVGOS to work.

Philips TV Repair Flickering Image On TV Screen Tutorial Guide How to ... Inverter on LCD TV Easy Fix Help Click Here to BUYTV REPAIR PARTS: h... ... How to Replace the Backlight Inverter Board in LG & Philips LCD TVs.Missing: restore ‎illumination
it's a common problem with Lg tvs and is an issue with the main board where the inputs plug into and the main micro processing of signals is done. usually it has to be replaced
Replaced the tv main Tuner signal board it is shorted and dead.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.50/50 chances ur tv power supply board it is could be dead too.Power board capacitors components parts are not dead doesn't mean the tv power supply board it is good, could be those other components parts are dead too.U just don't have the know how and trouble shooting to find out how that all.
Do you have cable TV? Many Cable TV companies have recently (over the last year or two) quit sending TV Guide data. You can get it through an external antenna connected to the TV's antenna input if you are within range of an ABC or NBC and a PBS affiliate for the clock auto set.
But if you still have TV Guide service, some of these have failed circuit boards for the TV Guide, ( usually shows a complete black screen when you turn it on or hit guide button.
After purchasing a "service remote" and then buying a new "Main Board-Analog" which didn't fix the problem, I spoke with tech support who then emailed me an "EPK" file. Basically the computer board inside the television needed to be updated since this whole digital conversion is happening.. However this incident has given me tremendous knowledge of what to do and how to troubleshoot and how to reset my own TV with all the hidden menus that you never knew you had. Don't be tricked into buying a mainboard or even paying a diagnostic fee. If your TV GUIDE screen goes blank and all you see is a small channel preview screen in the top left corner, chances are all you need is the EPK file update. I received the update file in my email, I downloaded it to an SD card, inserted the SD card into my 32LX1D LG LCD TV and it did the rest. It was too easy. Most newer LG TV's are coming with a "SERVICE USB" so you can attach a "jumpdrive" or some other storage to it. These so called "Authorized Service Centers" are a hoax. WHen you bring your TV into them they charge you a "diagnostic fee" ranging from $50-$150 just to diagnose it, then they tell you that that can also be applied to the cost of the repair. All the service center does is call a special priviledged tech support 800# for LG to find out what to do. I've replaced and removed my own Main board. You gotta learn the game people, its all a big game to keep the revenue coming long after the sale of the TV. Which is why nowadays automobiles are manufactured with parts that were made to break intentionally to keep bringing you back.
If, when selecting the guide, the entire screen is black (except for the preview in the corner), then the digital main board has gone bad and will need replaced.
Call LG. They will have you go through diagnostics over the phone and ask for diagnostic data the TV has in memory.
I have done this about 10 times and my TV usually loses all it's TV guide data after I customize my channel listings (delete all the channels I don't susbscribe to). Within a day or two of calling them, my TV Guide is back to normal.
I will never buy another LG TV. Thank God I bought the extended warranty. I've had the power supply already replaced (this is also the 2nd set..replaced 1st set due to same issue), TV turns itself on at times ( in winter - low humidity/static electricity??), and loses TV Guide listings on a frequent basis (after I change the channel map).
For all of you who have this problem, it started when TV GUIDE began to do their conversion to Digital. What you need is an "EPK" file update. I have that file and have no problem emailling it to anyone. I bought a service remote and changed my own main board which I have returned because I found the right solution. LG was no help at all. I am so pleased and happy that I can help anyone. Email me at [email protected] put "TV GUIDE" in the subject line and Ill forward you the file and what you need to do... within 4 minutes you will be back to normal.
Mine is doing the same thing. It's under warrenty and a guy is coming to look at it today. I will post more info once I find out more. I had called LG and they told me it's a problem with Gemstar and an upgrade that is going on with them. Not a TV problem. We will see.
