If another account comes up, sign out of it by clicking the avatar in the upper-right then clicking "Sign out."

I am assuming that whenever you open hotmail.com in your computer you find yourself logged in automatically.

This happens because sometime the check box "Keep me signed in" is ticked by default in the hotmail homepage. After that it remembers your username and password and every time it log you in automatically

Do the following.
1. Open a internet browser.
2. Go to hotmail home page.
3. Click on "forget me"

From next time onwards it will ask for username and password and you have to sign in.

No, you cannot sign into Hotmail without signing into Windows Live because Windows Live owns Hotmail.

In other words, you must use a Windows Live ID to sign into Hotmail, which automatically signs you into Windows Live.
