Unit will not open the CD trays

Greetings,I own a Sharp XL-MP130 Micro Cpmponent System. When I loaded a couple CDs, I noticed they would not play nor would the trays eject. I opened the system up and finally got the CDs out and put it all back together with no problems, I went to open the trays again without the CDs and still they would not eject. I do believe the CD unit has gone bad and was wondering where I could acquire the CD changer unit without throwing the entire unit out. I do not want to send it for repair due to the fact of the cost invovled. If I were to just get the CD changer unit, I would be fine. Amy assistance would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year

SOURCE: CD problem in Sharp Micro Component Shelf system XL-HP515

Compra un disco limpiador de lentes laser y puede que esto solucione tu problema ya que puede ser solo suciedad en el lente.

SOURCE: CD player fails to read CDs

Hi Everyone !
We got the same problem two month ago and we fix it. The problem is drying lubricate oil from elector motor which spin the cd disk. You need to open top cover its 5 screw , 4 an sides and 1 on back. Then you see black cd changer in side. You need to open top cover of cd changer by unlock plastic clips and slide cover. Under cd holder you can fined elector motor that spin cd. You just need two drops of lubricate oil on top bearing at electromotor. My works fine right now .
Good luck.

Hi! I'm a music teacher who just came back from summer vacation and plugged in my xl-mp130. It seems to be in sleep mode or something. There is a little red light that blinks just below the word...

i would do a hard reset to start and that is simply unplugging the unit for approx 5 mins than plugging it back in--a power surge or brownout can confuse the micro and a reset is all it needs sometimes--good luck!

CD player fails to read CDs

It's likely it's dirt on the CD lens. You can try cleaning it with a lens cleaning disc. But if the lens has been damaged it will never read the disc again, no matter how many times it is cleaned.

My XL-MP130 stereo makes a racket...

What your machine is doing is... whenever the unit is powered on or off the cd player resets itself and the clanking you hear is the cd changer resetting itself.  The plastic trays of the cd player are driven by plastic gears.  These gears are noisy when new, after a few years, they can make quite a clanking noise.  Most cd changers of this age have similar mechanisms and this type of noise is inherent in their operation.      I'm afraid the only solution is to replace the unit.  Opening the unit to lubricate the gears may cause more problems than it may solve, so I would not recommend it.

Sharp XL-HP505 Not playing CDs

Hi try this.....

Put the system in standby (ie off but plugged in) then whilst pressing down the record button and the X-BASS/DEMO button, press the PRESET DOWN (i.e.left hand one) button until "CLEAR ALL" appears, then power on your system.

This gave me some functionality back i.e. i can play normal wave CD's but not mp3 ones....

Hope this helps

"NO DISC" reading

Try this CD realignment process built into the Sharp XL HP505: Have unit off.
Hol down the square (stop) button and the X-BASS button while pressing the ON button. This starts the CD TEST. press play, the memory, then memory, memory, memory, adjustment lights will come on the screen. FOF, TOF, TBAL, TGAN, FGAN, RFLS. press cd1 - track 4, press cd2 - track 9, press cd3 - track 15. Press square (Stop).

If all the cd trays are full, then will light up . This worked for me.

CD player fails to read CDs

Cd cleaning disc is not advisable to clean your laser lens.. all you have to do is manually cleaning method! open the unit go to laser lens and clean it with 100% cotton buds then rub it slightly clockwise, but careful this is sensitive parts.
