SOURCE: AO error

This error is produced when the blower prover switch does not close after the blower starts, the control will stop the ignition and go into lockout. Automatic reset is immediate after the blower prover switch closes.

If you keep having this problem, contact a reputable service company, especially if it's under warranty.

The link to the owners manual is below, it references fault codes, etc..

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hayward H400 runs for 2 minutes and turn off, flames out chimney

Soot on your heat exchanger would explain this. Or leaves or rat nests would do the same thing. You can clean these yourself or get a repairman to do this for you. Just be sure if you have soot on the exchanger use a stiff bristel brush but not a wire brush. The soot as you free it up will be pouder and can explode in a fashion. Be careful and good luck.

SOURCE: Hayward H400 Pool heater will not stay lit

"IF" - Hayward Pool Heater Fails to Ignite: the most common reason for this problem is insufficient gas supply. The Hayward heater LED display will show a diagnostic fault code of "IF" which stands for Ignition Failure. Undetected gas pressure problems if not investigated properly may result in unnecessary replacement and servicing of your Hayward Pool Heater.

SOURCE: i have a hayward h400 gas heater for my inground

You should be able to find this on the manifold on the side of the heater. You can find two wires comming from the heater and they will go to a white plastic nut, when you loosten this a steel tube will slide out. Follow the wires to the circut board and unplug then replace.

Burner at gas intake is rusted out causing flames

You will need to get new burners. What causes this is improper water flow creating condensation on the heat exchanger. Condensation is highley asidic and when it drips on the burners it rotts them out fast. To cure this you will need to open the water header on the side of the heater. Inside is the by-pass and thermal control for the water. Replace both of these while you have it open, if one is bad the other can't be far behind.

sounds like heat exch is plugged.remove top of unit and inspect for nests.could also be plugged with soot because of poor burner flame characteristics.with top off, turn htr on and look straight down into unit. you should be able to clearly see burner flames between fins. if not remove exchanger and clean
