RPE Won't start. Can't even get to the credentials/login screen. Database exceptions.

I have an installed version of PC America Restaurant Pro Express. I had a working configuration at one point. Kitchen printer stopped working so I stopped using it for a few months until I had time to fix it. Now RPE won't start up at all. I get an error that an exception was encountered and that cresql cannot be opened and the login failed. Then 2 more dialogs come up saying that it cannot find the necessary data tables. I cannot even get to the credentials screen for RPE. Nothing opens. Any ideas?

Check to see if the SQL service is running. Go to Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services. These three should be started. SQL Server (PCAMERICA), SQL Server Browser, and SQL Server VSS Writer. It sounds like you are having a connect problem to your database. Did you do any RPE upgrades or conversions? Since you let system set for several months, I assume your free tech support has expired. If not, contact them today. Don't wait. Otherwise, you need tech help. I'm available at a much more reasonable rate than PCAmerica.

SOURCE: Syncing client with server - Restaurant Pro Express

Your getting a connection successful because your looking at the localhost. The server would be the network name of your server. And the password is case sensitive and is pcAmer1ca. (Note the number 1, not an i)

Pc america adding another terminal to sever

Hi Bob,

I would have to remote in to see what is going on. But did you compare database versions between server and client? They must be exact. Or maybe a repair install of RPE.

How to delete restaurant pro and start over

Backup database first.
Log your license key by trying to register. It should display.
Uninstall RPE from Programs in Control Panel. Then search for the CRE.net folder and rename it CREOLD.net. Then reload RPE.
After install, it will ask you to re-register. It will also ask you if you want to keep existing database. If you are starting from scratch, choose over write with a new one. Otherwise, keep existing db. This will preserve your inventory and menu setup.

Our epson kitchen printer is printing different font sizes for items-I would like for it to be consistent for all items ordered; it also prints a G1 in front of every entree ordered, I would like to

Number 1 reason for odd fonts or behavior of printers is the wrong driver installed. RPE is very fussy about this. Download the driver that PCAmerica recommends to use, not the most recent. The G1 could be a setup problem in your inventory, but I would have to remote into PC and look. If interested, email me.

Restaurant pro express; upgraded to new computer. Credit card processor won't work. call PC america and they want a boatload of cash to help. want to ditch this system soon, so don't want to pay....

You didn't say who the processor was. Many require a software program to interface with RPE that you need to install on new computer. Contact your processing company and they should point you in the right direction, if they want your business.

Hi, seems like everyday I'm getting new problems with my system. I have CRE Database 12.0031 Product Version: 12.0.0.0 Windows XP For some reason when I try to bring up my employees' total minutes worked...

With your previuos problem and now this, it might be wise to reload RPE and SQL Server. Be sure to backup database first. Then uninstall RPE and delete all folders dealing with CRE. Uninstall SQL server and all related software. You can then install both from the CD or download. You will probably need to reregister RPE. Then restore your database.

If this seems a little more than you wish to handle, I'm available. [email protected]

I can not restore my database which I backed up one hour agoon PC America Restaurant Pro Express

brewkeeper, there are so many possibilities on this subject that I couldn't even begin to cover them. The backup file should end in '.bak' and be located in the 'CRE.net' folder under Program files on your C drive if you did a typical installation. If the backup completed successfully, you should have received a completed popup. If you locate the backup file, the restore process will ask you what you want to call the restored database. If you are positive you want to do this, call it 'cresql'. This is the standard RPE database name. If you are not positive, call it something else. You may not use numbers. Try using 'restoreone'. You should get a message that database was restored. This does not, repeat does not make it the active database. You must then switch to the new database name you created. This will allow you to switch back and forth between databases. If you called the restored DB 'cresql', then it would be active and overwrite the current database. Any changed since the backup would be lost.

I repair RPE databases and am available if you need help recovering. Email me at [email protected] and I'll call you.

How to change the Invoice # from the default 1 to 7001

This can be done, but not thru RPE software. You have to run an update query on the SQL database. Not an easy task even for an expert.

I can do this for you if you are still interested. [email protected]
