I had the same issue, and found the problem to be a bad motherboard. I simply replaced it with an HP Pavilion board, and I can now get as far as booting up windows. However, It looks like I'm going to have to reinstall Vista, because it BSODs during boot every time.

SOURCE: have an acer am5100-u5201a w/acer f690gvm motherboard

you have to look up the model number off the board and see what chipset you have and so forth and so on. Without the model number off the board there is no real way to tell

SOURCE: no monitor display

listen for beeps they are codes for wat is working or not on a boot. Go online with of course a different computer to find the defined code, The number of beeps and the durration of pauses between the beeps tells a story.
Sometime with power off, reseat the CPU of if the video card is not on board and occupies a slot reseat that too.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire M5100 AM5100-U5313A AMD 4400 will not

Could be. Sounds like a repair shop issue if no system info is appearing.

This may be pointless, but try it anyway: -

It shows symptoms of RAM error, except it lacks warning beeps or led flash usually associated with this. Some PC's don't have this function.

Remove all RAM and replace one stick only, presuming you have at least 2 sticks. then try the same thing with the other sticks, one module at a time.

It's rare, but RAM does fail and it causes these symptoms. Also, if RAM is mixed and incompatible, this would also occur.

Mixing RAM may also kill the good RAM.

Next, check your PSU voltage readings ie 5v rails and 12 volt rails with a good quality multimeter. Or you might try another PSU.

Really need to have it physically in front of me to give a better answer.

Sansui no signal

Acer produces a number of LCD computer monitors. Acer's monitors range from 17 inches to 27 inches. Some monitors offer wide-screen viewing, embedded speakers, high-definition visuals, and various display connection ports. Acer computer monitor problems include common issues such as dead pixels, error messages, and blank screens caused by incorrect connections. Some reviewers have also detected image problems with DVD playback on some models.

"Input Not Supported" Error Message Acer computer monitors such as the G24 may issue an "Input Not Supported" error message when users set the display resolution too high. The G24's maximum display resolution is 1920x1200 with a 60Hz refresh rate. Maximum resolutions vary according to the specific monitor model and according to the capabilities of the computer's video card. b> "Input Out of Range" b> Some Acer computer monitors may report an "Input Out of Range" error message due to incorrectly set monitor refresh rates. Much like the display resolution, each monitor also has specific monitor refresh rates with which it is compatible. Blank Screen or "No Signal" Error b> Like other monitors, Acer computer monitors feature color-coded power indicator lights. If the power indicator light shows green, the contrast or brightness levels may be set too low and should be adjusted via the OnScreen Display. If this does not rid the monitor of a black screen, the monitor may be experiencing hardware failure. The "No Signal" or "Check Cable message" may indicate a problem with the monitor's cable connection with the video card. This error may also appear on a blank screen backdrop if the monitor is plugged into the incorrect port on the computer or if the computer is frozen and needs to be rebooted. Faulty power cords or outlets may cause the screen to be black and to show no power indicator color. b> Image Issues b> Some review sites such as CNET have reported problems with streaking and ghosting during DVD playback on some Acer computer monitors such as the AL1931. (A "ghost" is an identical offset image as the primary or desired image.) Unstable or unclear image issues may be caused by incorrectly programmed VGA timings or incorrectly installed monitor drivers. b> Dead Pixels b> Dead pixels and sub-pixels can cause a variety of display enjoyment problems. Acer will only accept returns on LCD computer monitors that have "more than four (4) defective pixels per million pixels." Further, the central area of the monitor may have no more than one defective pixel. Acer does not differentiate in warranty terms between pixels and sub-pixels. Hope this helps.

The problem is in your old computer, the video graphics card is faulty, you mentioned the monitor was hooked up to the new computer and worked fine.

My acer al1916w displays the image for 3 seconds then goes black

Sounds like your video card. Check to make sure it's connected properly. If so, check to make sure it's properly seated to *********** board. The possible issue could be the card is connected enough to display the picture, but not enough to communicate with the monitor to stay on because it has an active feed. Best of luck fixing it

Monitor problems

This can sometimes mean the screen resolution is set to high for what the monitor can handle. Change the resolutions to a lower setting and see if that takes away the error message.

My monitor displays images in stetched full screen format

the description you gave was the long way right click on my computer, select properties then device manager, you will be in the same place but lots faster, plug and play does not identify the monitor or its compatible display resolutions, right click on the desktop select properties then display settings, go into advanced tab and look at the monitor, and the adapter, you can play with the setting until you find one that works, 1400 x 900 may not be supported by the video card(adapter) so that may be why your loosing the video settings.
hope this helps.

Setting up monitor

Does your Acer have an Intel Display Adapter? If so, right click on an empty spot on your desktop, point to graphics options , and then panel fit.

Acer Monitor Display of text and image is not sharp

This might seem obvious, but is your video card output set to the native resolution on the monitor? If not, it will look fuzzy. Try 1680x1050, if you don't know the monitors native resolution.
No need to use anything higher than a 60hz refresh rate either.
