SOURCE: protection mode

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp. If it powers up and doesn't go into protect when you increase the settings, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp may need to be repaired.

Does it shut down or make loud noises when you move the RCA cables where they plug into the amplifier?

SOURCE: ampifier protection mode problems

I don't specifically know what kind of protection circuits Power Acoustik employs however I don't they have input short protection. You can verify it by just unplugging your RCA cables and if the unit still goes into protection the problem exists in the output stage.

I have a clarion cdm5 on my boat, it's been working fine but today it's suddeny started saying 'amp guard'.....i tried cutting power several times as well as reset button but nothing works.

Check your ground wire. protection mode of any sort is usually caused by a faulty ground. I am sure that it being a boat that there could be some shock and vibration it has to endure. Just check to see if you have all tight connections. Ensure you still have a good solid ground and it should jump out of the protection mode.

I plug in rockwood detanator VII and it goes to protections mode

Generally if an amp goes straight into protection, the amp is not grounded well enough. Either you should find a new location to ground the amp to or unhook the power wire from the battery, remove the ground wire from the chassis of your vehicle. Strip the paint from the chassis, since it doesn't conduct electricity, and remove any corrosion or copper shielding from the ground connector. reground to a solid metal location Can be grounded to the brace behind the back seat or to the seat belt bolt for best results.
An amp draws a lot of power, there it needs to be grounded well.
Hook back up your power wire to the battery and see if your issue is resolved.

Amp goes to protection mode. if the fuse is too small?

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. . Double check all connections. Good luck.
A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. Worth fixing.

Amp comes on and goes right into protection mode

Turn the reciever on for a second or two and then off before the protect mode shows up on the monitor. Repeat this step about five times and check to see if the reciever does not go into protect mode. If it does go into protect mode try it again. Dont know if this is the proper way to fix the reciever but it worked for me. Good Luck
