No disc I've had my canon dc100 camera since november 06, and it was working great for a while. Although now it says that there isn't a disc in it when I know there is. I've tried going to the menu and messing around with it. I've tried turning it on and off, I've tried removing the disc, I've tried putting in a new disc. Although as you might have guessed, none helped. If any of you have had problems like this, let me know what you did, I could really use the help.
Some DVD's aren't compatable with the DC100 they must be the DVD minus and moisture can also cause this but
Call Cannon Support 800-828-4040 they have a 1 year factory warranty & will repair without charge if it is a defect

To finalize the disk:
Select MENU --> then select: DISC OPERATIONS
then select: FINALIZE
then select: YES ... to go back to MENU
During the disk finalization, a progress bar is displayed. Close the MENU only AFTER the screen display returns to the DISC OPERATIONS menu
This just happened to our DC100 Canon yesterday during my son's 3rd bday party. I went to put in a new disc and then all that happened. Did you ever find out what caused it or if it can be fixed? Thanks
Are you trying to transfer the video to a computer to then burn to a dvd? Make sure before you put the disc in any other device, that the disc is finalized.
It's possible that, for some reason, the disks aren't compatible. It can almost drive you crazy trying to figure out why. To find out for sure if this is the case, try some new Panasonic discs, with the same specifications as the old ones that worked, and see if they work. If they don't work, you're probably having a dvr issue with the laser lens or related parts within the camera. There are many issues with dvrs that develop over time, requiring replacement parts and service. In those cases, it's usually better to get a replacement camcorder. The new HDD camcorders are immune from a lot of problems inherent with dvr and tape recorders.
make sure the power adapter is connected, you can not finalize on battery power alone. also make sure you are in playback mode...it will say original in the top left corner..then you should be able to finalize when you go into the menu
