Re: my xbox 360 wireless control won't connect to my xbox...
Make sure you sync the controller to the xbox by pressing the little white button on the top of the controller and then the same white button on the xbox near the memory card slot. Wait a few seconds and it should connect.

You need either a blue Ethernet cable to connect the Xbox to an internet outlet or a wireless router. If you use the wireless router, hook it up to your computer so it broadcasts a signal, then, depending on what Xbox you have, if its the new 360 slim you won't need a wireless adapter, you search for the signal, then connect it. If you don't have the 360 slim, then you need to buy a wireless adapter and it plugs into the back of the Xbox.
How to Configure an Xbox Controller
Configure you Xbox controller.
The Xbox 360 utilizes two
types of controllers: wired and wireless. Like most operations on a
video game console, configuring a controller requires little effort. You
can either plug the controller into a port on the Xbox 360, or sync a
wireless controller using the console's built-in controls.
Connect the controller's cable
to the in-line release cord. This cord prevents you from accidentally
pulling the Xbox 360 along with your controller during game play.
Insert the in-line release cord's USB plug into the USB port on the front of the console.
Turn on the console to activate the controller automatically.
Insert batteries in your wireless controller, if necessary.
Hold down the "Guide" button on the controller.
Push the Xbox 360's "Connect" button, located on the front of the console.
Push the controller's "Connect" button to sync it with the Xbox 360.
try this. unplug everything (power cord, av cables, wireless adapter, controllers) and take off the hard drive. dont plug anything in for about 1-2 minutes. when the time is up, put the hard drive on first then plug everything else in.
Hello my name is Tim Ehrhart, If the reciever is not lighting up then it is dead, you can try to take it to walmart and exchange it for a working one, they are usualy good at swapping out and if they give you a hard time buy a new one and return it with the old reciever instead of the new one. I hope this helps you.
I had the same problem with my new controller. The trick is to hold the connect button on the console for a few seconds and then hold the connect button on the controller. The main part is to hhhhoooolldddd it until the ring lights up.
It only works with the microsoft adapter nothing else. You'll have to buy the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter from microsoft and it cost around $100 bucks. It suxks that microsoft charge for this thing, it should come free with the machine
