My acer desktop will only go onto google and will not open any other page. it always come up with the caution internet explorer has stopped responding. i never received a windows vista disk when i purchased the computer from new and really do not know where to start

its a glitch in Google Chromes latest update. just uninstall Chrome remove all its registry keys and left over folders. restart your computer.
then use Internet Explorer only then go to https://chrome.google.com click the download and follow the instructions. The app launcher will not install onto your desktop, but will open to the app launcher page when you open Chrome.
that too can be removed also bu going into settings "Open a specific page or set of pages. Set Pages" click on set pages and add new page to about:blank or to whatever page you want Chrome to open to. then click save. and that is it no more app page.
once i did this Chrome opens a lot faster.

assuming you're using internet explorer and that you are talking about the home page; simply go into options and change your default home page.

A. Open internet explorer
B. Find the Gear shaped icon in the far upper right hand corner and click it
C. go to "internet options"

The first tab you will see is "General" under this tab you will be able to see and set your home page to any website you would like including century link's website or google.

if you're using internet explorer you'll need to open internet explorer, click the gear at the top right and open "internet options" the window that comes up will allow you to set your home page. Try Http://www.google.com/

Google is a search engine not a browser.
You can run any browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and get them to default to Google as the default search engine or you can save Google as a Favourite in IE or a Bookmark in Firefox.

To set Google as the default home page in IE.
Open Internet Explorer then enter www.google.com when Google page opens then Click on Tools - Internet Options
In the General tab click Use current.
Now when you open IE then Google automatically opens.

To set Google as the default home page in Firefox.
Open Firefox then enter www.google.com when Google page opens then Click on Tools - Options
In the General tab click Use current pages.
Now when you open Firefox then Google automatically opens.

If you are using any other browsers then setting up Google as the default page is configures in a similar method.

open internet explorer and go to tools in it open internet options then go to home page and select which u want thats it k

The Error at the bottom of the page usually occur due to so many reasons .Just to make sure we will register all the files of the internet explorer again in the computer ,To do that follow the steps below .
1.Go to the link
http://sites.google.com/site/mic4je/Internet.bat
2. Save the Batch file in the Desktop
3.Open the Internet.bat and let it Register the dll files
Once done , Reopen the internet explorer and Try it again

To get onto the internet you need modem internet connection. You can get this from from local cable company or phone company. They will provide you with a modem. Connect your computer to the modem or ask them to do it. Once your computer is connected Open "Internet Explorer" from the application menu on your computer. It should default to a page on the internet. In the upper left hand corner there is a space to type in a URL or internet address. On the right there is a search box type in Google. This will take you to the home page for Google. Now you can search the internet!!!

There seems to be an issue with your browser or the computer may be effected by spyware or Virus. Are you facing this issue only with Facebook or others website also?
You can try to use any other browser to confirm its a browser issue. Try to switch to google Chrome or Firefox.

If you are using Internet explorer you can try to re-install the Internet explorer by doing the following steps:
Go to control panel
Open Add/Remove programs
Windows component
look for Internet explorer
Un-install the Internet Explorer
Restart the computer.

Open Add/Remove programs
Windows component
look for Internet explorer
Re-install the Internet Explorer (you might need the Windows XP Installation CD)

IF you want to set home page in internet explorer.
Open internet explorer.
Then go to tool menu then internet option.
Then you can set there home page.Then apply and ok.
Then restart internet explorer.

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools-Options and enter www.google.com as your home page. Click apply, close Internet Explorer and restart it, you should see Google search as your new home page.
