You likely have inadequate supply to your helm. Otherwise, there is interference being generated. Try turning things on slowly one at a time, check your batteries and ground connections.

I understand that you would like to know about changing your Furuno fish finder to the newer FCV 585 unit. The Transducers are interchangeable they both are compatible with one another. However, the main difference in the two units is the size of the units. The FCV-582L is 7.9 inches square and the new FCV-585 is 9.2 inches square. Both of these dimensions are for flush mounting the units.
