Runs loud when the compressor kicks in? Why?

I took the back off and vacuumed out the "fins" that were clogged with dust. It seems to be cooling, the exhaust tube in the back is getting warm and definitely blowing warm air through it. Cold air is coming out through the top/front. When just on fan, it's nice and quiet. A/C kicks in and its a loud rumble-ish sound (not a squeal) And not what I know window A/C unit compressors to sound like. I'm guessing it's the A/C blower? Or the compressor itself?

Check vibration eliminators on the feet of the compressors, over time of running in tough conditions they wear out and cause rattling. If this does not fix the problem see below

-check amp draw, if amp draw is high windings are wearing out and compressor is running harder, may need replaced
- check to make sure your refrigerant charge is correct you could be slugging the compressor
-find other ways to isolate compressor operations

SOURCE: poetable AC compressor licks in for 10 min

It is probably either the high pressure switch or the frost control. The high temp switch usually trips because the condenser coil is dirty which does not allow it to exhaust heat very well. The frost control will trip if the system gets below 39 degrees on the pipes. This is usually do to low refrigerant or dirty filters. Good Luck!

SOURCE: my m6po9s2a only blows fan air when i put on

It sounds like the compresor is trying to start but it can't ( it could be burned out or stuck) But before replacing the compresor put a booster in parallel with the capacitor ( is no more than $30) it will help the compresor to start ,if doesn't , it has to be replace.

Gladiator freezerator converted to regular frig 5 yrs ago but freezer is not getting cold enough. Also loud banging noise from the compressor during the winter months. thxs Mike

The first thing to investigate is the condenser coils to see if they are clean. If they are caked in dust and lint/dirt then they cannot shed the heat created when the compressor pressurizes the refrigerant gas. This is on the high (pressure) side of the system. the compressor pressurizes the gas and them it is cooled. Then it goes through an expansion valve resulting in the gas expanding and getting cold. this cold gas passes through coils inside the unit absorbing the eat inside and making the inside cold. So if the condenser coils are clogged up and cannot cool the gas then the machine will not work. the gas will return too hat to the compressor and it will be running really hot, perhaps knocking. Use a vacuum cleaner and a brush to remove the dust/dirt. lint etc. clogging the cooling fins and then see if the machine doesn't work better. after 5 years this sounds very likely to be the issue. It is quick and easy to do and costs you nothing. If it is not the problem then at least yu will not be paying a technician by the hour to try it first!

Laptop over heating

To reduce the effect of the heat in a laptop, a fan and heat exchanging grill are attached to the CPU. The fan pulls air into the laptop from the bottom and blows it out the back. This produces a vacuum under the laptop and draws dust into the laptop which can clog the fins of the heat exchanger. After a while, usually just as the warranty runs out, it will start shutting down, locking up or any number of other things that are not good. A really good cleaning of the fan and fins are required.

TIP: Blow the dust from the fan and fins. To reduce the dust collection, Tape a coffee filter over the fan opening on bottom of the laptop. This will reduce the dust and can be easily changed when needed, and it's cheap.

My refrigerator kicks on and off but will not cool below 48 degrees

It may be kicking off on low gas, or the cap tubes or the evaporator valve is malfunctioning. A professional technician will have to check it out.

Craftsman Air Comp. 6 hp oil-less, 33 gal horz. tank - sounds really loud

Some of the craftsmen compressors have pistons that are coated on the top of the dome. Once the coating wears off, they have severe loud piston slap. If you continue to run it the way it is, it will snap the connecting rod in half or break the piston and possibly the cylinder.

How to make me ge 29.8cu.ft. be more energy efficent. it is a older model.it is a profile tfh30pr. it seems it runs a lot.

If your fridge seems to be running a lot more than normal, it is likely because the heat dissipation coils are clogged with dust. Most likely they are located on the bottom of fridge.
There should be a removable kick plate under the door. Often just snaps in.
Remove kick plate and use a vacuum hose to vac out the dust bunnies.
At your local hardware store you should be able to buy cheaply a long skinny brush to reach between coils and clean out.
You should pull the whole fridge out and get it from back also.
This will increase the efficiency on your fridge.
If you notice no change at all, or if you've done this already, it's possible the fridge has a problem.

Envirovac kicks debris back at my feet and is loud

It's clogged!
Many so-called "environmentally friendly" vacuum cleaners have multiple stage filters; the usual configuration is a standard filter followed by a HEPA filter or equivalent. Standard filters can be a paper bag or a bagless, removable container.
From time to time, the secondary filter will get clogged, so it doesn't matter whether you change the bag or empty the container, performance will not improve.
If you have access to compressed air, try removing the secondary filter and blowing it clean with a high pressure air nozzle. If that doesn't work, check the hose to make sure it's clear. If you are using a rug beater attachment, make sure it has not clogged at its inlet.

A/c turns on for 10 minutes

If it was start up capacitors, it wouldn't start initially every time. Do me/you, a favor, and remove your filter inside (return air) , and if it's a ducted system, remove entire plastic cover inside. Take a flashlight & look way up where filter covers in hole & take a good look at cooling fins on evaporator (front of AC). Look for restrictions such as dust etc. That dust will turn just like mud on there due to condensation mixing with dust, and block off flow which could cause unit to freeze up & compressor to kick out. If your real ambitious, and find lots of dust there, taking cover off roof unit would be next, and check same there at back end (condenser) coils & cooling fins.Get back to me after inspection from inside. Could still be electrical but lets check that it has proper maintenance & best chance to work properly by doing this first.

Sounds like it's time for a cleaning. You may have to remove a dust cover to get at the works. I use a vacuum with piece of small hose to get into the small spaces. Look around with a flashlight.

Problem with hussmann chest freezer

If the freezer is not located in an area where grease vapors are present the unit can be cleaned off using a vacuum cleaner. Then use a flash light to look through the coils. If you see dust embedded deep inside use a small air compressor to blow out the dust. Dirty condenser coils raise the pressures and temperatures in the system. Cleaning the coils and scheduling them to be clean at quarterly intervals should keep it functioning for a long time. Operating with a restricted condenser takes its tole on the compressor life span.

Amana BX22A2W - freezer works, fridge not cooling

Same problem here with an Amana refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. I removed the back panels and vacuumed dust and cat hair out. The back panel in the freezer was frosted over with ice on the bottom. I removed the shelves and food and used a hairdryer to loosen the panel. The ice maker made it harder to remove the plastic panel so I pulled it back and saw the cooling fins frozen solid. I used the hairdryer to melt the ice and a shop vacuum to collect the water. It works like new again.
