Model # m6p09s2a portable maytag
Greetings,
I have the same model air conditioner, and had the same symptoms. As you've probably discovered, Fedders is the company that actually built it, and went of business. No one is supporting it any more.
However, you may be in luck. I fixed the problem by simply tipping the unit almost all the way over on its back (leave a little gap) and letting the water drain out of the hose and the filter. After that, it started right up.
Hope that works for you. Stay cool. :)
Maytag model #M6P09S2A portable room a/c
I had the same issue pop up on me on one of these units that was only days old---the folks at maytag told me there were no known issues on these units (recalls, etc) so I figured the blinders were on and stonewall going up. So I got a multimeter, cracked the case on the unit, checked for continuity through the motor windings, and found none. Then pulled the lower squirrel cage apart enough to get the fan off motor shaft, motor out and apart, and found a blown thermal fuse in the motor. $1.69 at Radio Shack and a crimp connector or two and Ahhhhhh, cold air again. Not that hard to do folks! Enjoy.
Whers does water evacuate from portable ac unit
there is a holding tank in the bottom of the unit, on the front right by the floor is a rubber cap that plugs this tank. water evaporates from there, if the tank gets too full, the power button will flash red and the unit will not turn on. put pan under, pull plug and drain if this happens. if it doesnt happen, don't worry about exhausting the water as its not a problem.
Aircondition wont turn fan
Make sure the set screw holding the blower wheel to the motor shaft is tight.
Try replacing the run capacitor for the fan motor if that does not do it. (If the motor shaft turns and the wheel turns, but squeels real loud, then replace the wheel if the set screw is tight.)
Top tray not draining
I called the service tech, before Maytag stopped supporting this unit. (built by Fedders with Maytag name). Fedders has gone out of business (7-09). The tech guy said that the tray gets clogged up with crud and the solution is to try to flush the tray out with water and compressed air. I had the problem of water leaking from the trays but not properly draining through the drain hose. This solution did the trick.
Water leaking from portable air conditioner
First, make sure the unit is level. If so, you have a blockage or kink in the drain tube. Careful inspection should reveal any blockage, & you may be able to poke it thru with a piece of coathanger wire. Don't use excessive force, any block should be easily freed.
