I looked up the FE-190 and it says it uses XD Memory Cards not discs. Several companys make a card reader that plug into the USB connector on computers. 2 are Targus and Lexar. You could probable find an XD card reader at Walmart or Radio Shack. The XD memory card will then show up on your computer screen as a regular folder that contains JPG files, which are the pictures.
There are two ways to enable these new features:
1. Upgrade to OLYMPUS Master Plus 1.4 in our online software shop. Just click on the following logo:
2. If you have bought an Olympus High Speed xD-Picture Card, type in the serial number printed in the place indicated by the guide included in the optional package of the Card when this window of Olympus Master Plus is prompted:
Panorama shooting lets you create a panoramic picture, using the OLYMPUS
Master software from the provided CD-ROM. An Olympus xD-Picture Card is required for Panorama shooting. If the card is a Fuji xD card then the panorama feature would be disabled to you.
To learn about the new and free version of Olympus Master 2 software go to: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/oima_softwareMaster.asp Click on 'Free Download' to register your email address to receive an email containing a link to download either the Windows or Mac version. This software replaces Olympus Master 1.1 and is Vista compatible.
From a quick look through the manuals for the FE-220 found at http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/FE-220%20Advanced%20Manual.pdf and http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/FE-220%20Basic%20Manual.pdf the closest thing to "ART and 3D" functions in that camera are the various modes which compensate for different lighting and motion situations (Sport, Sunset, Cuisine, Indore, Fireworks, etc. - see page 12 & 13 of the second 'Basic' manual link). The thinking is likely that programs like Adobe Photoshop (pricey but powerful) or Kodak EasyShare (free but limited) - or maybe some software Olympus sells? - can be used after the fact to do special effects, etc. Hope this helps.
Ultra-compact with fast data transfer rates, the Type M xD-Picture Card
is currently available with up to 2GB of storage capacity.
Not only do they support the exclusive Olympus Panorama option, they
also activate art effect functions including 3D, oil painting, cartoon
and watercolor. These extra functions which are used in conjunction
with the software provided with your camera will add fun and creativity
to your photography.
So just to clarify, you have a TYPE M XD PICTURE CARD, MADE BY OLYMPUS.
And an Olympus mju770 SW. Now, it is the software on your computer that is going to allow you to make any changes. So first, you need to open that software. Connect the camera to the computer via USB, and voila, extra functions within the software will activate and allow you to edit the pictures with special effects like watercoloring, etc.
You know, you could also achieve the same result by using a powerful image editing tool like Photoshop CS3 or even go back as far as Photoshop 7.0. Or Microsoft Photo Editing can add those effects, and that's free with any XP machine.
Yes, third-party brand xD Picture Cards can be used to record images. Please note that an Olympus brand xD card is necessary to use the Panorama function on the camera.
well i found out the answer to my own question. i had to download the xD Pack plug-in from the olympus website: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_sectio...
