My camera is not going on, I see a yellow light

A friend on a visit to the US just bought me the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera. I received it two days ago and charged the battery according to the instructions. Upon inserting the battery into the camera a yellow light comes on - the "flash charger lamp". Apart from this light the camera shows no activity and does not switch on when the power button is pressed. I have tried recharging the battery overnight but the result is the same. I have also tried leaving the battery inside the camera until the yellow light switched off by itslef, but still, pressing the power button yields no results. PS: Unfortunately since I am based in Nigeria (West Africa), returning the camera for a new one is not an option I can explore.

Sounds like a battery problem , try buying a new battery or the camera adaptor. The battery unfortunately is faulty and wont charge.
