More than likely the drive has stopped functioning; you can try updating the firmware for the combo drive with a patch from the Compaq website; here is a matrix for the 700 Series Notebooks.

Acer Notebook was getting slow then i try to reset then after the process it restarted then said "Setup is starting services". It shows a error message "The computer restarted unexpectedly...

A scratched cd/dvd can have errors causing the install to fail. Use a clean cd/dvd install disc to fix it.

If you are trying to install directly from the hard drive then a malware infection could have corrupted or damaged that part of your hard drive. Install windows from the cd/dvd disc for your computer.

Dvd drive isnt working, properties said everything was ok, even tried un-installing and re-installing it but still wont read anything

What happens when you insert a DVD/CD? If inserting one immediately locks the laptop, and you have already tried uninstalled and reinstalling the drive, its time to purchase another DVD drive for your laptop.

My computer cannot detect cd/dvd inserted

Right-click on my computer, go to 'Manage'. It opens a window, click on 'Device Manager' on the left. On the right, click on 'DVD/CD-ROM Drives'. If it shows your DVD drive, then right-click on it and select 'Uninstall'. Once it has uninstalled, Right-click on your computer name(near the top on the right, above the word 'Computer') and select "Scan for hardware changes". It will re-detect your CD/DVD drive and re-install it. If it cannot find your DVD drive, then you will need to purchase a new one. If it still does not read CD's then try updating the firmware.

Also try physically re-seating the drive by taking it out and putting it back in the PC.

DVD-RW optical drive not working properly

The two symptoms could be attributed to a viral activity. Some viruses will disable your CD/dvd burner for the reasons you cannot make a backup copy with your important files.

I suggest, it is safer to scan your harddrive using another clean computer with a good antivirus and malware remover.

Even I too experienced that everytime when you access cmd, msconfig, task manager, sytem restore, registry editor there's some kind of counter. Until you reach the number of times you access that it will release its destructive job. For me it also block me of using USB, even floppy.

Commonly this is a Vundo activity. Many free antivirus can disinfect this. Disinfecting directly from its own hard drive. But the risk of your important files is the priority that is why I suggest to it using another computer. But it is your call.

I recommend Avira, malwarebytes antimalware. Install, update then scan. And still check your DVD burner for hardware defect.

I think this should be enough. Just ask again.
