SOURCE: WATTS

The output power is 1000W and that's near the high end for a consumer microwave. Hope this helps.

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

SOURCE: No turntable, no heat. Light, vent fan and keypad all work...

That would be a problem with your primary interlock switch or its mount.

NOTE: There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

The interlocks are highlighted in the diagram below.

SOURCE: find glass turntable replacement part

These are the glass trays listed to match the models you gave (NR961T is actually MR961T) and they are all shown as no longer available from standard suppliers:

MW-7600-04 MW-7600-06 MW-7600-11 MW-7600-13. MW-7600-12 should also work.

You can order one of the -11 or -12 trays by part number here.

It may take a week or two, and they may reply back that they were unable to find one, in which case they will not charge you.

If you can't find one, you can check eBay or Wal-Mart and other stores to see if they have a Rubbermaid or Nordic Ware (NordicWare) wind-up turntable like this "Micro-Go-Round". (I've seen them at Wal-Mart).

In some cases, two microwave-safe plates can serve as a makeshift replacement for a missing tray. You have to find a saucer that fits securely on your turntable support, though. Here;'s a photo of that, too.

SOURCE: Can't pop popcorn well

It's 850 Watts, 0.9 cu ft.

That's enough for popcorn, but a magnetron does lose power once it starts to age.

The figure I've heard is an average life expectancy of 2000 hours for a magnetron.

Two "Band-Aid" suggestions for better exposure and more even heating:

1. Place the popcorn bag on top of an upside-down paper plate.

2. Place the bag off-center instead of dead center. Placing food in the center of the turntable is not as efficient as placing it off-center.

SOURCE: I Can't Find Microwave Glass Truntable Tray for Jenn-Air

Martin Microwave has one in stock here for $25.99.

I searched for model JVM8000 and this came up.

On a related note, I think that what Smithbrother was talking about is something like a Micro-Go-Round. Here's a related post from my "Ask Mr. Microwave" page.

Q. My turntable is missing or unavailable. What can I do?

A. This sort of arrangement can be a good temporary fix until a suitable replacement tray can be found, or even a permanent solution.
Place a microwave-safe saucer upside-down over your roller ring / turntable support assembly. Then place a microwave-safe plate rightside-up atop the saucer.

Be sure both are centered, checking them frequently to be sure shifting does not occur. Otherwise, a spill of hot material could result. Safety first!

Another option is to check Wal-Mart and other stores to see if they have a Rubbermaid or Nordic Ware wind-up turntable such as the Micro-Go-Round.

What is the wattage

There are 2 different wattage's on a microwave oven.

1 The wattage a microwave oven uses from your wallsocket that is in a range from 1500 watt to 2500 watt. you can read this on the typeshield on the back of the oven.

2 The wattage the oven put in you food. ( that is also the wattage that a foodpackage or recepy mentions. it is normal in the range from 600 to 1200 watt. you have too lookup this in the manual or manufacturers website.

I need to know the wattage of my magic chef oven model 6898VV

Hi Nadia,

There's little to be found on the internet for this model oven now. There should be a name plate / manufacturer's sticker either inside the door - on the jamb; or on the rear near the power cord. If you see a rating given as "120VAC / 1200W" this would indicate INPUT wattage, which would be higher than the amount used for cooking. A typical 1200W rated microwave might have 800 - 1000 Watts of cooking power. If there are 2 ratings for wattage like 120V / 1200W / 850W; the 850 Watts is the amount of cooking power. The cooking power - or wattage - is always lower than the total wattage. If you see a rating somewhere that indicates 900W cooking power, then that would be the cooking power of the oven.

If you're not satisfied or unsure about the information you're finding on the oven - or it is missing - you might want to contact Magic Chef Customer Service Department at (888) 775-0202. They should be able to help you - or pint you in the right direction.

Good luck!

According to what little documentation that I could find on this unit it is a 1000 watt unit, which is the good news. The bad news is that none of the suppliers we use still stock parts for it! So when it breaks it will not be easy to find parts to fix it.

Microwave oven wattage question

hi, you are correct it is 950 watts as you have read this on the microwave itself, when they sold these they kept the same model number but as they bought newer ones out the wattage increased so they kept the same number so its nothing to worry about it was just yours must have been a newer model then the first ones they made.

the first ones they made started at 700 then they did an 850 then a 950 so you are right its just a case of giving the same model number as the only difference is the wattage everything else is exactly the same, you wouldnt tell the difference if you had them side by side as its only the wattage that changed on this model

My welbit microwave model mr755t not working

I would suspect a bad door switch. Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

I believe it's been a few years since these ovens were made and doubt if you can buy a whole new one. Not sure about the wattage.
