D50 Battery & clock icons flashing

The battery & clock icons are flashing on my D50 top monitor. I've tried using three different batteries including one new one. Doesn't appears to be the batteries. The camera won't function. The owner's manual that comes with the camera suggests the internal battery that powers the clock needs to be recharged and the clock reset. How do you do this? Do i need to buy a DC charger? The rechargeable batteries don't seem to be doing the trick. HELP!!!

Dropped my Nikon D50 and now it shows there is no SD card in it and the battery indicator is flashing. Nothing appears on the LCD - including the menu. I've taken the SD card out and the battery and...

Contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com to see what they recommend. I don't think the warranty covers abuse such as dropping the camera so you may be in for an expensive repair. However, he Nikon techs may be able to suggest something that might help you avoid that expense.

It is possible that the small built in back-up battery is failing or has failed. This battery is built in and recharged by the main camera battery, three (3) days of charging will recharge it and it should last for approx one (1) month. For more detail refer to page 69 of the User Manual at the bottom of the page.

If this does not fix the problem, then you may have to get a Nikon Service Agent to check the camera.

Hope this helps

Dell Inspiron 531 (desktop) won?t turn on/boot

You've either got a bad motherboard or a bad processor (I'd lean to the motherboard being bad). I would honestly take this into a computer repair shop and have them check both.

Dead Nikon D50 in mint condition... Changed lenses with the power off. Powered back on and no LCD, or any actions at all. Flash will not pop up, no shutter noise, no auto focus. No top menu, no back menu....

Sounds like a power problem. Try checking voltage of battery and cleaning contacts with a cotton bud and electrical contact cleaner $8 at repco. Had a similar problem with a pentax mini slr. Verdigris (****) on battery terminals is dynamite in low current circuits. If you cant afford contact cleaner use special methylated spirit ( $3.00 at local pharmacy). Good luck Trevor
