Continue to get message file is missing correct problem by using original windows xp professional setup cd. this is a school pc along with 20 others that the school purchased with all software on...
You cannot recover the Install CD from the PC, unless it has a hidden partion with install files on it.
If that is the case, there should be an option in the Start menu to create an install disk for the PC.
Look in Start menu for reference to the Brand, and any Tools listed under the Brand name.
IF all you need are specific files, what you can do is borrow an XP pro CD to pull specific files to use. It is the Product Key which cost the money.. You should not need the borrowed disk's key, just the CD as a file source.
One last thing is..Helps to find a local who knows what they're doing.
If the PCs are IDENTICAL, and you have one good one working as you want it, make sure you have a COA sticker on the "bad" one, (sticker with the product key on it,) Pull the hard drive from bad mach. install it as a slave to the good machine, and clone the hard drive to the bad machines hard drive. Re-install hard drive to bad pc and boot up. If needs activation, use the product key from the case sticker.
