How do we operate the clock radio with batteries?

Anise, most clock battery backup's will most likely just keep the time setting on the clock until power is restored rather than actually power the clock radio during a power outage.

My clock is constantly blinking and won't go on the right time. I unplugged it and plugged it again, it just keeps blinking.

Hello
Check the bckup batteries in the clock first. If they are weak, backup function will not work properly, and the display will blink after a mains power failure.

Auto Clock Set

You do not have to set the clock time as a

built-in automatic time set system is

equipped in this clock powered by 3V (2

X AA batteries, included). All you have to

do is to plug this clock for power and

current time will be shown automatically.

However, the batteries can also be

exhausted and we recommend that you
replace the batteries every 2-3 years

Before You Plug for Power

1. Setting Time Zone

You may slide the TIME ZONE selector at

the back of the unit to Eastern (EST),

Central (CST), Mountain (MST) or Pacific

(PST) (refer to the maps on the right).

2. Daylight Saving

You can slide the DST switch at the back

of the unit to turn on/ off in areas

observing/ not observing such time

change.

WARNING: Please avoid playing with

these buttons after entering the
Clock/Alarm set mode.

Setting Clock

1. Slide the switch /WAKE1/WAKE2/

on the top of the unit to clock position.

2. Press REV or FWD to set the clock

time. The time decrements or increments

will follow by a faster rate when you press

and hold the buttons. The ":" between

hour and minute time flashes when you

are setting the time. AM or PM icon will

also beside the time.

3. Slide the switch /WAKE1/WAKE2/

on the top of the unit to position
when finished.
OK.

I got the clock from my daughter and have no manual. I keep setting the time, and it keeps changing to 2 hours earlier. I think I've pretty much figured out everything else, though this is NOT intuitive.

Hi, your clock radio is an atomic clock radio... no wait you don't need your lead underwear! it receives a signal from the atomic clock and sets the time to match it, after you set the time zone and put it on auto dst you will never have to set the time again!

ENVIRONMENTAL RECEPTION EFFECTS:

The Atomic Clock obtains the accurate time with wireless technology. Same as all wireless devices, the receiving ability may be affected by, but not limited to, the following circumstances:

  • Long transmitting distance.
  • Nearby mountains and valleys.
  • Among tall buildings.
  • Near railway, high voltage cable, etc.
  • Near freeway, airport, etc.
  • Near construction site.
  • Inside concrete buildings.
  • Near electrical appliances.
  • Near computers and televisions.
  • Bad weather locally or electrical storms between you and Colorado.
  • Inside moving vehicles.
  • Nearby metallic structures.

LOCATION PRECAUTIONS:

This clock receives a radio wave much like a TV or radio. Be sure to locate it near a window or some other location where reception is good. Avoid the following locations, which can interfere with proper reception.

Synchronization signal reception can be received in Continental USA only. In other areas, you can still use this clock by making time settings manually.

QUICKSTART

  1. Place your clock in a location with optimal signal marks on the LCD.
  2. It is recommended to put the clock near a window. Please move the clock to another location if difficulty in signal reception or unstable signal marks is encountered.

Installation
Simply plug the SkyScan clock radio into any household outlet.

Battery Back-up Operation
This clock radio is equipped with alarm time memory that can be powered with a 9-volt battery (not included). When normal household power is interrupted, or the AC cord is unplugged, the battery will power the clock to keep track of the time and set alarm. When the backup battery activates, the LCD backlight is off, however, the functions of alarm and radio still operate.

To Install the Battery
  1. Remove the battery cover at the bottom of the case.
  2. Connect a 9-volt battery to the connector plug.
  3. Insert the battery in the compartment and replace the cover.
Note: An Alkaline battery is recommended. Carbon Zinc and rechargeable (nickel cadmium) batteries not recommended.

Set the Time Zone Press the SET button in sequence until you see PST(Pacific Standard Time)blinking below the time digits on the LCD. Press UP or DOWN button to select your time zone.

Daylight Savings Time
Always slide the DST switch to ON position unless the clock is used in an area without Daylight Savings Time.
**Special attention to usage in Arizona and Indiana. **Arizona and parts of Indiana do not recognize Daylight Savings Time (DST). Turn the DST off if the clock is used in these areas.

Cheers!

You need to reset the microprocessor in the Clock/Radio. to do this you must unplug the Clock/ Radio and remove the battery. Let the Clock/Radio set for at least 1 hour to discharge the microprocessor. You can then reinsert the battery and plug in the Clock/Radio. The functions should return to normal. No power to the smartset

Sorry it took so long to give you a answer to your problem. You will have to try to reset the Clock/Radio's microprocessor. To do this you must unplug the Clock/Radio from the A/C power source and remove the internal battery. Let the Clock/Radio set with out power for about 3 hours to completely drain the stored current and voltage stored in the Clock/Radio's microprocessor. After you have let the Clock/Radio set for about 3 hours,You can then reinsert the internal battery and plug in in to the A/c power source. The Clock/Radios functions should return to normal. If they do not you will have to change the internal battery and let the Clock/Radio set with out any power for about 3 hours. Put in the new battery (CR2430) and again plug it in to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio functions should return to normal. If you find you are still having a problem with the function of the Clock/Radio you can call the Emerson customer support. The telephone number for the Emerson customer support is 1-800-909-1240. call them between the hour of 8am-4:30pm CT. Equity 44100 clock radio problem

Hold the Alarm Set button down for about 5-7 seconds. The year will flash. Skip the year and date by pressing Alarm Set a couple times until the time is displayed. Use the Up and Down to change, then press Alarm Set one more time to save it. This clock is ****, by the way. I run into them in hotels and it makes me nuts as well. Very non-intuitive.

On the time lost issue...there is a button battery (CR2032) in a compartment underneath. That battery keeps the internal time so when the clock is plugged in, it "instantly" sets the time. Problem is, if the internal time is set wrong, then it instantly sets the wrong display time when it it plugged in. See procedure above to correct that.
