1. Turn off your computer completely.
2. Remove all accesories including battery and charger.
3. Press the power button for 1 minute.
4. Connect the battery and charger.
5. Turn on the computer.
*If the problem still persist it is a posible hardware issue. posible bad fan.
*If you know how to uninstall and reinstall the fan you can do that but carefully.
*If it is a brand new laptop call the manufacturer and have them fix the hardware issue for free.
should find out why the original charger stopped working in the first place... was it a faulty mother board really.
anyway if the ratings on the charger you bought are for that laptop indeed, then it should power up the laptop minus the battery. ofcourse if you put in charger minus battery, dont expect it to show the charging led..just try to power it on

If you cant find a new charger from stores, you can always hunt for it on ebay or you can use the following Desktop charger which can be used for all mobile phone batteries. it is called a Generic battery charger.
I think the DVD Player was made for Target, you might be able to go there and find one and get the info off the power supply (charger) and take the unit and the info to Radio Shack for a replacement. If they can not help try calling MCM Electronics at 1-800-543-4330
