Hello! It seems that you have a problem with the laptop charger connector. It maybe in short circuit. You can try to look for some electronic workshop that works with reballing, BGA solder, etc., that might change it. In Portugal we have some, so I think in other countries you can find them to.
Hi, to identify charger. You will need to test another charger on the cell phone and test that same charger on another phone to confirm if the charger is working.
Also after testing for the charger and and if the charger works, that means the charging port of the phone where the charger is been inserted is damaged.
It will need to be fixed.contact you local repair person for help.
Probably broken the nipple from the cable which goes into the laptop, and starts it charging. pull it out and inspect the nipple on the charger see for any breakages, if it has snapped etc then it will require a new charger.
If it hasn't then it will be a broken inside the laptop, best thing you can do is strip the laptop and have a look or take it to your local computer repair shop, and it will be sorted...its a common problem with laptops the charging damage.
remove battery. connect ac adapter. make sure ac adapter led is on. connect ac adapter to laptop. check if ac adapter led still on after connection laptop. turn on laptop then check bios if ac adapter is determined. check bios as well if it is updated. if not then download the latest bios update from dell support site. after updating bios charge the batt while laptop is not use. check if changes will happen on the number of charge. make sure you check the charge in bios not in windows. if charge in bios made changes while on windows still says idle and not charging then reinstall the OS. if all fails no changes in charge % batt then have the batt replaced.
Just because the light comes on does not mean the charger is charging. You will have to use a meter and check the actual output of the charger. The problem could be the charger , charger plug, cables or battery. Start the checks with the plugs and cables and go from there. The light can come on but no power going out to the battery.
Definetly try a replacement battery first. If you take your battery to a batteries plus they might even be able to test it. If you give me the make and model of the laptop I could probably locate you the replacement part numbers and prices. Thanks, Lee
If the unit works with the charger plugged in, but not with the battery, the most likely problem is the battery itself. Replac the battery. While possible, it is rare for the charging system to fail within the laptop. Let us know if the new battery has problems.

Mine was brand new and it worked for 2 days then started doing that. I know it's not my laptop. I work in a computer shop and I tested it several different ways. I think it may be a faulty capacitor. either way, you just have to replace it. That's what I am doing. I would suggest the same.
Very likely a problem with the connection between the power pack and the laptop itself. This is usually the weakest point, and often you need to wiggle the connection a little to get a good connection.
It is usually just a solder joint that breaks, but it is a lot of work to get fixed on most laptops so get it replaced under warranty.
