I have an Acer Aspire 5630 which is probably less than a year old and which won't shut down properly.
When I:
1) press start-shut down-shut down
2)OR use the shortcut keys to do that
3)OR log off and press the shutdown-shutdown link
4)OR just press (and hold) the power button when the laptop is on or in the process of turning off...
...the laptop just restarts. The only way I can shut it down is to press and hold the power key whilst it is starting up which obviously isn't good for the computer, because when I turn it on the next time it generally goes to the black and white screen where it asked what configuration I would like because Windows didn't start normally the last time...
What do I do? I don't want to break my computer by shutting it down in the middle of turning on!
Thanks very much!
If the lap top os less tha a year old, I would call acer, and see if they are willing to repiar for free, if not, can they replace one.
You should go to the BIOS and load the default settings. Also, check your device manager to check if all hardware is installed and functioning properly (no conflicts, etc).
