F you are replacing fan probably one fro light and one for fan
you will need to buy a DMM and test if either one of the black wires is hot measure between black and white. This may be something you do not need to be doing. a shock and fall from ladder will more than pay for a service call.

You need two switches. It sounds like the Electrician set up the junction box for two circuits(Lights and Fans). i say this because your supply has 4 wires, Red , Black, White and Bare. We may be able to oversome this with one Lutron Switch. Allow me to investigate, and I will be back.

It slides in above right above the ball, in the mounting bracket where the canopy is. You may have to kind of encourage it to go in there, and you will need to push wiring off to the sides and out of the way to help it have clearance to get in there.

go to Home Depot, not only do they have replacements, but they can order for you what you need. Hampton Bay is the Home Depot brand.

Try these two: 1) look for a small switch up near the light area on the dark-colored area of the fan. If a switch is there, then simply flip the switch to the other position; 2) if you have a remote control for the fan, the reverse mode may appear on the remote control. Hope this helps.
