I think pressing Fn and F11 simultaneously should do the trick.

How to turn on numlk for gateway NE56R31u

You may have hit a certain combination of keys on your Gateway laptop and turned on the NumLock function accidentally. The result is that the rectangle of keys from the 7 key down to the question mark key have become a number-entry keypad. Worse, Gateway manuals don't discuss this function.

Hold down the "Fn" key on the bottom row of the keyboard, and press the "NumLk" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F11" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the F11 key and "Scroll Lk" key simultaneously. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F9" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "Scroll Lk" key. Type the letters UIO. They should come up as letters. If none of these help, then it's probably a keyboard malfunction and you'll need to get it repaired.

How i can enble function key

HP laptops have the ability to lock the blue special function keys on, making numerical data entry easier on laptop models that do not have the room for dedicated numerical keypads. Because the key combination to lock the function keys is so simple, however, it is easy for those who wouldn't normally use this ability to do so accidentally. When the function keys are locked, pressing certain keys will result in numbers being typed rather than letters. Unlock the function keys to alleviate this issue.

Press the "Fn" and "Num Lk" keys on the keyboard simultaneously. The "Number Lock" indicator light should turn off, indicating that the letter keys will once again type letters when pressed. This combination should work on the majority of recent HP laptops. If it does not, try one of the alternate key combinations in this article's remaining steps. Press the "Fn" and "F11" keys simultaneously, then attempt to type a letter. If the combination does not work, continue to the next step. Press the "Fn" and "Scroll Lock" keys simultaneously, then attempt to type a letter. Continue to the next step if this does not work. Press the "Fn," "Scroll Lock" and "F11" keys simultaneously.

My mjkluiop keys are typing 0123456-. Other keys are typing working incorrectly also. I can only get the correct letters by holding down the Fn key. How do I correct?

the number lock is on. you have to hold down the Fn key and look closely at the other keys and look for one that has a tiny picture of a calculator, pressing it with the Fn key should restore it.

I have an Asus X58L laptop, For some reason there is a letters lock and I do not know how to unlock it. So if I press letter u it gives me 4, if I press p it gives me - and so on, unless I press Fn button

It sounds like you have the num lock switched on, most laptop keyboards are too small to have a separate numeric keypad so use the letter keys on the right side of the keyboard for this. (you should note numbers as well as the expected letters on the face of these keys).

To turn off the num lock, hold down the Fn key and press Ins. (located top right of the keyboard).

" Unexpected charactersDisable the numeric keypad —
Press <Num Lk> to disable the numeric keypad if numbers are displayed instead of letters. Verify that the numbers lock light is not lit."

Keypad

You're kind of vague on your problem. If it's the smaller blue numbers for the calculator, you will need to use the function (fn) key. Hold the fn key and press the key the reads number lock (num lock), this should return the keys back to letters. You can find more info on the fn key and numbers lock under help in the start menu. If this isn't your problem, be more specific, and I'll be more than happy to help.
