I have recently purchased a new presario C700 Compaq laptop with windows Vista pre-installed. I love everything about it EXCEPT:
In "the ease of access" section of control panel, I have activated the toggle keys for CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK or SCROLL LOCK, also the STICKY KEYS. Unfortunately, even at full volume, the sound emitted when any of these keys are depressed is a pathetic, almost inaudible scratchy squeak, instead of the usual distinct BEEP with a different tone for ON and OFF.
My laptop has been back to the shop 3 times and to the "Techguys' " workshop 5 times, without success. I am told that no fault has been found, despite the fact that the MS expert says it is a fault and everyone, including those at the shop, agree that the sound is pathetic.
QUESTIONS
Is this a fault?
Can it be corrected?
Is it a characteristic of this model?

You can use the accessibility features of Windows to audibly notify you when you've pressed the Caps Lock key. Follow these steps:
Click on Start >> Click Control Panel.
Click Ease Of Access >> Select "Change how your keyboard works" from Ease of Access Center.
Check the Box for Turn on Toggle Keys.
Click Apply. Click OK.
The ToggleKeys feature, when turned on, will beep whenever the Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock keys are pressed.
hope this helps
