Insignia NS-LTDVD19 Fal screen w/dvd shuts off after 1-1/2 hrs of play

This unit plays dvd's and TV input for a good hour or more then it just turns off. Once it cools down it reacts the same. I assume it is a power supply problem. I don't see any obvious bad solder joints, etc..Power supply has number PCA046FD-011-P-R.
Any known problems or updates for this problem?

This unit is barely a year old - I'd really prefer to repair it. What are the common overheating failure components in the type unit? I don't see how I can get more air to it.

  • rbatzel Oct 25, 2008

I have disassembled the unit and pulled the power supply out in the open air- it runs longer, but still shuts down.

Test the power supply capacitors, or replace the whole power board.

If you press power, and the voltage drops the diode is at fault

What u can do is take precaution of the heating issue ....
u may be able to install better heat sinks inside the system...

what i would suggest is to get a tecnician and ask him to istall the heat sink or see that the earlier heat sink is properly
placed... if not or damaged u could chane it

  • Anonymous Oct 25, 2008

so that clears the dout of heating

as i told u will need a heat sink

a heat sink is a device which gives more surface area to the heat to flow it is made up of metal

    these are not very costly....

Its due to over heating at some electrical components.
you just remove the board from the tv.
and do cold solder the whole board and wait for a hour to make it completely dry.and then check it will definately work.

this types of problem are mostly solved by cold soldering the main board.

thanks.

Nope..but the power supplys can take a beating from the power line..easier to just get a replacement power supply, and keep it open so some air can get to it..

LCD TV/DVD knocked off and screen is a colored 'spider web' looking. Can it be reset or fixed.?

The LCD Panel is broke and it is not repairable. The parts cost of replacing the LCD panel would exceed the cost of replacing the unit new. I am sorry for the bad news.

Two questions: My Insignia NS-LTDVD 19 flat

This model/brand of LCDs does need a digital converter since they are a low end quality product, the manufacturers did not put an ASTC tuner to decode the HD signals.
The DVD assembly can be replace to fix the DVD issues.
I have a couple of these DVDs assemblies from a broken screens LCDs and they're like new condition.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

I can not play my PS3 on HDMI "unsupported mode".

While turning the PS3 on from standby, hold down the power button until the unit beeps twice (it'll beep once right away, and again maybe 5-10 seconds later). That should reset the video output of the unit back to default, and you can go from there picking supported resolutions.
