Need replacement OHL wrap
Possible cause of overheating low gas pressure or clogged burn tubes
The OHL is not for sale due to a couple of reasons. If the heat exchanger has a hot spot it will melt the OHL making it useless. The OHL is just a large fuse. Rheem will completely warranty (if within date range) if the OHL or heat exchanger has problems. Bypassing the OHL is very dangerous and could result in a house fire since the appliance is mounted to a wall. I would suggest scrapping the copper heat exchanger for cash. That about all its worth in the condition its in.

I have a Richmond RMTG-66DVN tankless water heater with a broken Over Heat Limiter (OHL). I bought it over the weekend fairly cheap but now am finding that Richmond/Rheem does not sell the OHL!!! Where can I get one? Can I substitute it with another? How can I bypass it, at least long enough to see what other problems may exist? I believe it overheated due to improper ventilation. If I clean it and vent it properly I'd like to see if it still works but I need to get past the OHL.
