Cant open the pc to replace the HDD

Try to slide it back and then lift it up. Also look for some type of lock release that your tower may have.

Where is eject button cd is stuck making a grinding noise

On every CD/DVD/BluRay player there should be a VERY small pin-hole on the front of the actual tray(you may have to wipe any dust off the front in order to see the hole). If you stick a saftey pin in there you will release the lock on the tray and it will pop open. Now if the CD is really really jammed and the pinhole trick doesn't work you will have to take the drive apart to get the CD out.

I hope this helps! If not, please comment back and let us know!

How do I put in a CD? Pushed eject button but nothing happens.

It is possible that the drive is temporarily jammed. There should be a release switch, a small hole the size of a pin.use a paperclip to open. If it doesn't work after that, replace the drive.

How can I eject a cd from my dell

Try right clicking the CD drive in my computer and then click eject. If that doesn't work, look closely and you will see a tiny hole normally next to the eject button, sometimes there is just a grove. Take a straightened paper clip and insert it in that hole. This should open the drive. You may have to turn the computer off for this to work. If that does not work you will have to try prying it open with a butter knife. It may damage the drive but seems it is already damaged.

Drive D is stuck with the CD tray open. After pushing the button to eject a CD the drawer will not shut. I assume the drive is worn out after 7 years of service. The question is how to remove and replace...

That green plastic piece is attached to the drive making it snap-in, that serves as a lock, find a way to unlock it by clamping or pushing it on sides to release the lock and pull the drive out. Hope this helps.

Cd drive

1.If the keyboard has a CD/DVD Eject key, press it. The Eject key is usually placed by the volume knob and is marked by a triangle pointing up with a line underneath.
2.Double-click My Computer .
3.Right-click the icon for the CD, CDRW, or DVD drive that is stuck, and then click Eject.
4.If the CD or DVD drive door button is a long clear plastic bar on the front of the PC, press firmly on the right side of bar. Some models have a button on the front panel of the PC to the right of the hinged door. Press the button to eject the drive.
5.If the drive door button is part of the PC case and is covering the actual drive door, open the door that is part of the PC case and press the Eject button on the faceplate of the drive.
6.Restart the PC and press the Eject button on the front of the drive when the first screen appears (before Windows launches). If the drive door opens this way but does not open in Windows, another software program is taking control of the CD driver. Try shutting down or configuring any software programs that create discs or monitor the CD or DVD drive.
7. If the door still does not open, do the following:
1.Close all programs and shut down the PC.
2.Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
3.Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the CD or DVD drive. This is the manual release. The location of the manual release hole will vary (see Figures below for possible locations).
NOTE: On some models it may be necessary to remove the front panel to expose the manual release hole. Check the documentation that came with your PC for information about removing the front panel.

NOTE: On some models the release hole and the drive activity LED look similar and are about the same size. Do not force the paperclip into the hole if it does not go in. Make sure that the hole is not actually the LED.

4.Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.
5.Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer opens a little.
6.Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
7.Remove the CD and turn on the PC.
8.If the tray still does not open, do the following steps to check the power cable for the drive. Work on a hard flat surface over a non-carpeted floor:
WARNING: The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any edge of the computer's interior metal.
CAUTION: This product contains components that are easily damaged by ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap that is connected to a grounded surface (like the metal frame of the PC).
1.Turn off the PC.
2.Unplug all power cords from the back of the PC.
3.Press and release the Power button on the front of the computer.
4.Remove the side panel.

5.locate the power cord that connects to the back of the CD or DVD tray that is having the problem.
16b393a.gif
6.Unplug the power cable and wait five seconds.
7. Find a different power cable that is not being used, plug the different power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket. If a different power cable is not available, replug the original power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket.
8.Replace the side panel and plug in the power cord.

9.Turn on the PC and press the eject button on the front of the drive.
If the optical drive does not have the manual eject feature and the CD tray will not open by using the steps in this document or if a disc has shattered inside the drive, the CD, CDRW, DVD drive may need to be replaced.

Disc tray wont open

The small hole allows you to mechanically release the tray. Unfortunately, with the system still running, the drive will fight you. Shutdown the system and then try using the pin in the hole to release the CD. That should resolve the removal problem. As far as the CD drive goes, it may be attempting to read the disc and failing. Sometimes it just does not give up. You may need to have the disc lens cleaned or just replace the drive.
Hope this helps.
