Ave sorted it out. All i had to do was keep the unit in standby mode then hold the display button in for a few seconds and the trays unlocked.

Hi, I had the same problem and i found out that if you hold down the fast forward and the rewind buttons with the power on and off button it will reset. It took me a couple of goes but after a while it worked. When you do it keep all of the buttons held down and a series of numbers flash for about a minute then it will reset. Good luck, Jeff.

Every time i try to put in a disk, it says its locked

Hi,

Yes,Some one have set the child lock ON accidently.so it appears as LOCKED

As this child lock is ON you cannot open the tray.

Please follow the below steps to open child lock,

When player is in standby mode press RETURN,ENTER and then ON/STANBY BUTTON again.

You can open it.

If it appears as TRAY LOCKED ,You should contact your sony dealer or authiorised sony service centre.

Thanx

Display reads OPEN LOCK when I try to open dvd tray.

Samsung Home Theater Systems have a Dealer Lock or Tray Lock Function that prevents the disc tray from being opened.
There are four procedures for turning off the Dealer Lock function. Try one, then the other, to see which works on your system.
Unlocking Procedure 1 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press the Stop button on the front panel and the Power button on the remote control simultaneously for four seconds.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns the dealer lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 2 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press and hold the Function button on the front panel for 3 seconds. The display shows the word Unlock.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns the dealer lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 3 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Turn on your Home Theater System.
  2. Press and hold the Open/Close button on the DVD player on the front panel for more than 4 seconds.
Note: Repeating the two steps above turns Dealer Lock on again.
Unlocking Procedure 4 To turn off the Dealer Lock function, follow these steps
  1. Using the HTS remote press the Menu button + 712, and the HTS will display CAN OPEN.
The Dealer Lock feature is mainly used by retailers to ensure that the display discs are not removed. However, parents of young children may find this feature very useful as well.

Open close door not working

Nope. Does the red light come on on the front of the unit?It should then startup saying 'philips recorder'scrolling across the display. When you press to open it should click and say'open'on the screen. If it just says 'open' with no whirring or tray opening you can try a service mode test. If it displays 'locked'it's set to dealer mode that can be removed.

I think you hold in the 'display' button when the unit's off in standby to remove the dealer lock. It's designed to stop shoppers nicking cd's when the units on display in a shop. If this doesn't work post back and I'll try it on my cdr600.

You power off then power back on while holding down the fast forward and rewind buttons on the recording side simultaneously. The display moves through a sequence of numbers and the trays will then open.

FW-R7 displays "Locked" when attempting to open CD Trays

You were close, but didn't explain it very well. If you push on the 'DISPLAY' button (left side of machine as you are facing it, about half way down) when the unit is off, it will say something like "DEALER MODE", push it again to return it to regular mode. You may have to press and hold the button to get it to display 'DEALER MODE', then when everything is normal, "DEALER MODE" just goes off and isn't replaced by anything. Hope I explained it well.
