When I turn the dial to start the dishwasher, it doesn't turn on. I've noticed that if I mess around with the latch it starts, but lately if I let go of the latch it stops again, so I have to wedge something under the latch, just right, to keep it going.
I'm thinking I may need to just replace the latch switch, assuming that there is such a thing in there. Does that make sense. Any other ideas?
you are correct about the switch but depending on the model, sometimes the switch does not come separately. check with your local parts supplier or go to www.reliableparts.com to see your options.

If the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive).
To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...
high temp wash
heated dry

all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.
If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).
I Hope this works for you.
Sounds like the timer module is going bad. Might be getting moisture on contacts. That would explain why it works one time and not the next.Just trying to help!
The first thing I would check is the latch. If it is not engaging properly then nothing will work. It is simple to check. Set it to run. Open the door a little and take a flat screwdriver & press the inside part of the switch in. It is like a button. You my get a little wet but you may find the problem. The latch can get out of whack. If it is one that has adjustments on it then loosen screws and adjust to make it seal the door tighter. a few models you have to bend the latch to adjust. I hope this helps.
Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.
ok when it starts to wash, open the door and see if you have lots of water in the unit, if it looks like a little you have a water fill problem..if it looks like alot you have a pump problem..
I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response, thanks and good luck
Hi Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you
I have a whirlpool quiet partner II and for some reason it does not drain the water out any more and I cannot figure out why....people say that it is the filter but that is unbelievably hard to get to and I cannot find any instructions online or paper work that tells how to break it down. If anyone has any insight please let me know
My Whirlpool Quiet Wash plus dishwasher seems to have died. No power. None of the buttons work, it quiet mid-cycle. No breaker issue, my garbage disposal runs off same breaker and is working fine. Any ideas? I was thinking the comp. board that the buttons work off of is fried. If this is the case any idea how much to replace it? Would it be cheaper to buy a new dishwasher?
