In this case there is something physically blocking it .probably if you press teh eject button and force it out in the same time with some kinda tool ..it will give up and open ..but will do the same ..when you close it ..So you have to take it out from the case and see if it opens once loose..if it does it means it was forced in the place and most of them does that when they are pressed in ..The only other cause may be a loose belt ..If you think there is no other way ..try to open it and see if there is anything obvious.....but..I suggest to change it if it does not open when you help it with a blade on the tray and pushing the button ..

Cd tray eject button doesn t work - paper clip trick doesn't help

the "paper clip trick" isn't a trick. It is a MANUAL way to open the door far enough to pull it open and remove the contents. Straighten out the clip. Place it through the tiny hole just above the eject button. Be sure to push it straight in. When you feel resistance, push HARD. the door should open about a halt inch and allow you pull it all the open. It will not open automatically from a paper clip.

CD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD disc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

My computer dvd wont open

Look on the front of the tray where the eject button is There should be a small round hole, this is for ejecting a stuck disk. Just open out a paper clip and insert in to the hole and press until the tray opens.

I have a dx-20a4pu driver but it wont open please help

Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip, and insert it into the small hole in the face-plate.
When you feel resistance, push it about 1/4 inch more, and the tray should "unlock" and open very slightly. Then, you can gently pull the tray open.

Take a paper clip, bend it, and insert it into the small pin hole on the front of the player. It should be next to the eject button. This will open the tray up manually.

I got a cd stuck in the cd/dvd drive for my gateway laptop- i dont know the model. tried to hit eject button and ejecting through computor and it will not open. what do i do?

All CDs & DVDs have a tiny hole on the drive tray.
Get a paper clip, straighten the paper clip and insert it into this hole and push the paper clip in gently, the tray will release and pop out, then you can remove your disc.
You can do this without the laptop being powered up or powered down.

Blinking green light on 1 tray

You could have a faulty drive.
To open the tray, you need a paper clip, straighten it and place it in the small hole below the disc tray, push it in and the tray wull pop out slightly, remove paper clip and pull the tray fully out with your fingers.
Then try to close and open the tray with the push button, if it does not work you need to replace this drive with a new one.
