Your Garmin device is probably over 12 years old. go get a new one. you have already gotten more than your moneys's worth out of this device. I recommend replacing it with an eTrex 20 or if you want a magnetic compass and better sensors an eTrex 30.

Otherwise, replace the batteries, open it up and replace any coin cell batteries in there as well.

You can do two things.

First, plug the GPS in overnight in a regular USB charger. If the battery charges up, then the problem is with your Garmin vehicle cable.

This sounds like an old battery that has deteriorated to the point where the external power won't even turn the unit on. I have a fairly detailed description on FixYa of how to replace the Quest battery. Search for something like Quest Battery. It does involve opening the unit up. If you are not comfortable with the inner workings of electronic equipment, you will need to return it to Garmin.

Your battery holder that you put the batteries in is bad.

Get it straight back to Garmin. Personally I would look for a replacement as most Garmin software returns we get back in the shop end up being returned time and again until the customers get fed up and demand a new one..

mcdevito75 here, Sounds right, the screen has gone. Contact Garmin about repairs, usually chaeper than a replacement.

Call Garmin customer service, they are wonderful. My rubber thing around the outside became loose,and they sent me a new unit, even though it was almost 2 years old.

Batteries are low.

Unit is defective. If under 1 year, it's under warrantee. Send it back.

just solved this one, go to the garmin, website, download webupdater plug yer legend into yer pooter and update legend software, mine is fixed at last. apparently the updater changes waas driver
