How to charge low battery

The Nuvi uses a standard USB connector. You can try charging it with the USB cable attached to your computer or to a USB phone charger. If it still won't charge fully, the battery needs replaced.

My garmin gps battery is low and will not charge.

have you tried charging it by plugging in with the interface. able to a compter usb port? Or if this is the method you have tried, try plugging it in to your car power source. If it still won't charge the internal battery may need to be replaced.

Says I have a low battery. I think I am missing the battery and holder located on the side. What is the battery I am missing?

The battery is inside the satnav. If you get a message saying that your battery is low you should plug in the car charger for 4 hours, or a mains charger for 4 hours or connect it to your computer for 8 hours to charge it.

If it fails to charge by any of these methods the battery may be worn out and unable to take a charge. If this is the case you need to return it to garmin to have the battery replaced.

My TomTom Gps doesn't work. I can plug in to car lighter, but it will not start. It would periodically light up then go out.

It is likely that the battery is low, or dead, particularly if you haven't used the GPS in a while and it hasn't been charged up. Don't attempt to use it when the battery is low, or it will cause other sw/data problems. You'll want to plug it in (via USB, or wall adapter) for up to 24 or so, to get it charged. Then, start it up and keep it plugged in until your battery (indicator shows that it) is fully charged.

I have a one xl with no manual or instructions please supply asap. My display goes out after 2minutes andprogressively shortens with continous usage. is the battery low or what please assistregards Ray.

you can download a copy of your manual HERE
from the tomtom website.

your right! your unit is probably powering off from a low battery...tomtom recommends charging it via the usb cable from your computer for atleast 4 hours..

after you charge it up enough that it will start, tap the screen where it shows satellites linked, then in the upper ight corner you can see the battery and if its charging and what percentage af the battery is charged..

its a common problem on these Xl not to charge, but it just might be low on battery.

Recently when returning from a trip my C550 giving keptme the message "satellite unable to locate" (not the exact words) This went on for a week or more but suddenly started locating me from the satellite....

Low battery power is generally r4esponsible for loss of signal or low signal. Charge itr fully before use and plug into car power source ONLY AFTER staring the engine so as to avoid spike deamage. The car charger cannot fully charge the battery it is justn sufficient to maintain a level of charge . If the battery gets too low it cannot maintain a constant signal.

Low battery, won't charge

connect the garmin to your computer using the usb port. It will start charging then. For some reason when the battery goes dead in this unit the only way to charge it is with computer. the car adaptor will not work once the battery gets real low.

Sounds like you both have a battery problem. I experienced a similar problem when trying to charge via the USB-cable connected to my computer.
Ended up buying an original charger (expensive) and the charging went smooth.
The car charger should in any case work fine, so probably your battery is not very healthy.

Try holding your finger on the battery symbol for about 10 sec. The unit will then switch to a technical page. There you can observe the battery and charging voltage. When I plug in my computer USB-cable, I read around 4,4V and that is not sufficient for charging my battery.
When connected to the original charger, this voltage rises to about 5V which gives a nice charge. When unplugging charger, the unit displays the battery capacity. If the charging voltage is OK, but battery capacity drops quickly after you unplug charger cable, the battery is probably bad. (Of course you have to charge is for some time) I think around 4V battery voltage give 100% capacity. 3,9V gives about 90% capacity.
This will not solve your problem, but can give you an idea about what is wrong.
Good luck.

My garmin 340 suddenly stopped working

Ummmmm "Low battery"....... not too hard to figure out. You need to charge it for several hours. If the battery is low it WILL go out on you and during that time, the battery may recover enough to come on briefly then go off again. Please charge your battery!

Battery low

This may seem like a dumb question, but have you tested the lighter socket to see if it's working? If the TomTom is plugged in, you shouldn't get a low battery warning.
