Hi,
Let me elaborate on what the other two were telling you. First, your fingerprint reader is a scanner, if it is showing up as a scanner then you have the device installed. Second it may not have the right driver installed so that the biometric software doesn't realize it's the right device.
First you need to install the driver from the backup you made for the fingerprint scanner. If it doen't work or is not on the backup then you neew to go to
www.acer.com pick your region, then get into the driver downloads for your model. You will need the full model # ex AS5730-54857 off the bottom of the laptop to get into the downloads. Once you're in download the newest update for the finger print scanner.
Once you have that installed it should show up properly in the device manager and the biometric software should recognize it. It is always important to install the drivers before the software for these devices as otherwise they will not work. The software installer needs to see the proper device at the time it installs, so if the biometric software is currently installed, remove it then proceed with installing/updating the driver.
