There are little moisture indicator strips located around the inside of the phone. The phone doesn't have to be near liquid water to to become damaged.

Sometimes working as a cell phone tech I would have customers come in with a malfunctioning phone. I would check for water damage and my fear would be confirmed by those little strips but the phone hadn't been near water!

It wasn't until later that I found that the customer had been listening to their tunes while in the shower and the phone was on the sink playing away.

Also going from a cold climate and then into your house during the winter will cause this.

There may be a few places in your area that MIGHT fix your phone but it can depend on which part they're replacing and the carrier.

Be sure to back up your data if you can.

Bernadette,
While I appreciate your wish to have cool refreshing drinks in this heat, you have inadvertently posted this query in a forum dealing exclusively with Cameras. Were you to post it in a forum concerning domestic appliances, I am sure you would receive a quicker response, and soon be enjoying that drink you so desperately require.

Where can I obtain a spare water inlet pipe for a Whirlpoor toploader in the Johannesburg Northern Suburbs. Regards Elsebe Stegmann

Water inlet pipes are standard on most machines and you should be able to get them at, say, Game or even the bigger Hyper Markets, but any appliance store or repair shop will have them too. Tell them what it is for just to make sure. Get a roll of pipe tape as well as I have found that the threads on the water pipes do not match the threads on the machine exactly and a little help with sealing is needed. Make sure too that the seals are in both the fittings and there should be one fitting with a screen in it, necessary with all the muck floating around in our water mains at present.

I have a Nokia N90 and it fell in a bucket of water,it submerge for about 6 secs after grabbing it out.I dried it off and imediately run a blow dryer on it,but not getting any display on screen, but it...

The best way to treat a phone after water submersion is to remove the battery immediately and allow it to dry near a radiator or other gentle heat source. Sometimes burying the handset in dry rice will speed up the drying out process.
Be prepared to take it in for repair if the above doesn't work.
If it's insured you should be covered for water damage.
