A good chance the ac is bad, try getting another one, the battery may be bad as well, or the charging port on the computer may be bad as well.

My hp pavilion dv6-2117ax laptop won't power up (no power light on where adaptor meets laptop). Replaced power adaptor / charger and laptop powered up and operated for a day and then next day woul

The laptop probably isn't charging. Could be a bad d/c connector on the laptop or the battery is bad. Remove the battery and plug in the a/c adapter and see if it powers on. Wiggle the a/c plug in gently while pressing the power button on the laptop. It powers on and off briefly then I'd say it's the d/c jack on the laptop, bad sodder joint.

Latop will not boot up

1.Ensure your battery is holding power. Some laptops will auto shut-off if the battery won't hold a charge. In that case, replace your battery and retry. Check your charging lights or indicators to see if your laptop is getting power and charging.

2.Check your AC to DC converter (the little black adapter you plug in your AC outlet.) This converts AC power into DC power. Is it abnormally hot? If so, it is probably burned out. Replace it. Note- high heat is not a true indicator of malfunctioning. It can be dead and cold as well. No power
indicators on your laptop could be a sign of a dead or bad converter also. Converters WILL get hot (this is normal.) If it is REAL hot (to touch), then this is not good.

3.Check your power cord. Are there nicks or cuts? If so, unplugg it from the AC power and repair with electrical tape- better yet, replace it. Many computer salvage stores carry power adapter cords. They're cheap.

4. Check your laptop lid switch. If it is broken, you may have power but your screen may not come on.

This is usually a little button or mechanism located close to the lid hinge that turns on or off your

screen when your lid is open or closed respectively. Normally the operator does not push this button.

These are fragile and broken easily on some laptop models. Sometimes these can be fixed, more often

they will require replacements. If you aren't an expert repair person, get a technician to

repair/replace it for you. Opening up laptops is a very delicate operation and much more difficult to

repair than desktops. It may be worth it to spend the money for repair.

5. If you have tried these easy solutions and it still won't power on, then your problem lies

elswhere. You may have an internal power switch or voltage regulator problem.. Internal problems will

require professional help.

Netbook charging indicator light won't light and battery won't charge. AC adapter works on other computers

Hello,
If the battery won't charge and the laptop won't turn on but the ac adapter works with other laptops, then the problem is the port where you plugin the ac adapter. Some of the laptops has it built in to the motherboard. So you might need to have it repaired by a technician. Or if the laptop is still in warranty, you might need to send it to the manufacturer to have it repaired or replaced. But if the laptop works without the battery, or it will turn on but the battery indicator is not lighting up, you're facing one of these problems.
1. The battery itself is dead. 2. the battery bay is loose 3. the battery itself is loose
Hope this helps...

No power. no lights. I have checked the power cord and its like there is no power

Firstly check that there is power to the Ac adaptor, this can be done by seeing if the green power indicator light is on on the adaptor body.

If not, then you have a defective plug, blown 3 amp fuse or the adaptor is fried (not uncommon)
If you have a multimeter, you can set it to 20 volts DC and with the adaptor pligged into the mains, test the DC JACK end! by putting the red probe to the inner part of the jack and the black to the outer part, if no reading, then assume the adaptor is dead.

Best way to check is by testing with an adaptor (universal charger type) to see if that works.

Assuming the adaptor is putting out power, check the output with a multimeter as above and see if the voltage is at the correct level (think its 19 volts on that model). If it is, then move on to the DC jack connection on the netbook

Watch the power indicator on the adaptor, if it is not steady green (ie flashes on and off), ther power is not making a circuit in the alptop and is being "spat back", this can be anything from a blown circuit board in the power circuit, to something as simple as a motherboard main fuse.

If there is a staedy green light but no power at the netbook and the jack connection at the netbook is firm and not sloppy or loose, then you will need to have the netbook dismantled and the fuse checked ( this will also need to happen if the jack connection is loose.

Sometimes, removing the battery, pressing the power button on (with the adapator unplugged) for 30 seconds and repowering with the ac adaptor can reboot the system, but I'd be inclined to suspect the adaptor first

My netbook won't charge

Try with a different power outlet
check whether the connections are proper
check whether the system is working without the battery and the AC adaptor
by this we will be able to find whether the problem with the ac adaptor or with the battery

My acer one tries to boot but when the screens is abuot to turn on it shuts off

you may be trying to power it up with a faulty ac adaptor---it's trying to boot up with a battery that is just about dead. test the adaptor for the proper output
