I need some help my son changed his admin. password and now when he trys to use it , it says wrong password is there anyway to retrieve his password without having to reformat his laptop . ty .

Login into an admin account and go to users and remove that user- if that is the admin user thats locked then you need to contact the person with that password or reinstall the os. We do not assist in the bypassing of passwords or any other legal security feature.

Hello, I had the same problem. I purchased a windows password recovery disc. Google windows password recovery disc. I paid about $10 and downloaded it and burnt a copy. simple to use and worked well

If you have other user account on it with admin rights ..you can remove teh password or remove the account and make it again and save the files ..but if you are the only user and the user password is the issue ..you need to reinstall the operation system cause there is no other way ..
If you have someone good on computers ..you can try to hook the hard disk to another computer and locate the file with the password and change it or delete it , but I''m not sure about results..
Anyway hooking it up on another windows system may help you to retrieve important files on C drive ..and after that reinstall and format the C drive ..and I suggest not to use a password anymore unless really necessary ..

The default username and password are admin and admin. However, if you have changed, and you don't remember the username and password it can't be retrieved.
You need to reset the router. The procedure to reset:
There will be a small hole that takes about a paper clip wide probe. And press for 10 seconds while powered up. This will do a reset your router to factory.
Then username and password will be default admin and admin. Then you can access through 198.16.1.1 on the browser.

Pam, there is no way to retrieve just the password. You have to reset/reconfigure the router. Have you done router setups before? If not, I suggest you get someone to help you. If you want to try anyway, then have the printed manual next to you as you step through the sequence. Make sure you connect a PC to the router using an ethernet cable & confirm that the PC connects to the router. Admin is the user id. The factory default password is often "password" or "admin", but check on the manufacturer's site to be sure. Let me know if you have questions about any part of this.

the only way I know to go about changing a password after its been established on the admin account is to restore the modem or router to its factory defaults using the reset button usually about the size of a pin on the rear of its case

restart windows in safe mode and you should be able to click on Admin and log in without password

try logging in with the built in admin account

user: admin
password: leave it blank or try password

if that works go to the control panel/users and reset his password there, log off the admin then youll be able to log back into your sons account

The default password of the router is admin. If you have set up a password before, it will not recognize the default admin.Hold the reset button of the router for 10secs and it will retrieve the default admin...To change the default password, launch internet explorer (pc should be connected to the router hardwired), type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1--it will prompt for a user name and password, leave user name blank and password will be admin...It willl bring you to the set up page of the router..click on the administration tab and from there you can create your new password for your router.

Officially, there is no known way to retrieve an administrator password on vista, except by using the "forget password" feature when you are at the Login screen, and hope you remember the password reminder.

unofficially, however, there are plenty of tools out there that will do the trick as well, as long as you know the risks that are involved. you can do a google search for them. They can be dangerous to use, and in some cases, illegal to use depending on the country you hail from, so make sure you do your research, are comfortable with the possibility that you might damage or lock yourself out of your operating system with some of them, and that your country's laws allow the usage of them. (you have been warned :~))
