the transfer case only engages when in 4wd. check the universal joint, it connects from the drive shaft to the rear differential. it may need grease or to be replaced.
I have a Late 1999 Chevy Silverado C1500 Z71. I had one of the heater
hose nozzle snap off this past weekend. I looks like the heater core
hase some kind connection fitting. And I had the same situation!
there's more than 1 and they are all inside the pan and in the valvebody be careful messing with this stuff it could become very costly very fast. good luck
There should be a tag on the rear that tells you the weight. It is probably sythetic oil. If there is no tag, call any Chevy dealer, ask for service dept. and they will tell you.
